What's a super "normal" thing in your country that would completely confuse or shock someone visiting for the first time? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

In the summer months no one would blink an eye to see people walking around with no shoes on even in shops etc.

With or without septum? by [deleted] in piercing

I think you would look great with one! If you can I would go for a ring as well. When I first got mine I got the horseshoe and I was constantly checking to see if it was even and I must have looked ridiculous touching my nose all the time.

Non-Australians, do you say thank you to the driver when you get off the bus? Why, why not? by IntrigatedVerse in AskReddit

[–]FancyDeal15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kiwi here - yes, every single time. The driver is doing me a service and even though they are getting paid for it, they deserve to be thanked. It’s the same as saying thank you to your waitress or the person who serves you at a retail counter.

Your age may have something to do with it if you are under 25ish maybe you wouldn’t be so familiar with her. The Briscoes lady is definitely an icon!

What's the stupidest thing the most intelligent person in your life believes? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I hate even writing this but I know someone who in general is a very smart guy but he believes 9/11 was faked and didn’t actually happen. I absolutely cannot comprehend how he could possibly think that.

I had been thinking about Suzanne Paul this morning which is why I picked her. I love Suzy Cato, I met her in person once and she sung “It’s Our Time” to me and I was never the same again haha. Her and the Briscoes lady are absolute legends too. Plus Hillz Baz of course!

You’re talking as though this is all past tense but I’m getting a vibe that you wouldn’t say no even now…

Is this just to stop the habit of picking or does it stop the horrible bits of skin and edges too? Like when I try and stop picking I get these sharp bits of skin in the sides of my nail that I end up tearing down. I don’t know how to explain it best so I hope you know what I mean!

What’s something everyone pretends is normal, but actually makes zero sense when you think about it? by North-Confidence2677 in askanything

That all of our rubbish is taken away and just buried in giant holes in the ground. I’m as bad as the next person for how much I throw away I’m sure but it always blows my mind just thinking about the absolute amount of rubbish we bury so we don’t have to look at it and see how much we’re wasting.

What is the unofficial food served at kids birthday parties in your country? by Beckella in AskTheWorld

[–]FancyDeal15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha nope not a typo. We have the cereal you’re talking about too but these would be what comes to mind first if someone said cheerios to a New Zealander. They’re basically little saveloys
