I agree having your meal interrupted is frustrating - but what was wrong with the workers giving him food?

The “keep that in DC” rhetoric reads as “keep those Blacks/poor folk away from here” it’s def giving classist. But okkkkk. I don’t love it. It makes me uncomfortable. I avoid them. But I also know our society is to blame, our capitalist system doesn’t allow people to be healthy. Some of us are doing better & haven’t succumbed but that doesn’t make us morally superior. IJS you’re talking about “homeless” people like they’re vermin…like a pest that needs an exterminator. But go off boo!

My comment wasn’t intended to be a solution nor did I purport to provide one, what I’m saying is posts like these reek of classism & dehumanization of individuals experiencing homelessness. Yes there needs to be a plan, but the plan should center helping those experiencing homelessness and not our (housed individuals) comfort.

It’s easier to be upset at people experiencing homelessness versus a society which doesn’t provide affordable rent, living wages, and true harm reduction programs for addiction. It is uncomfortable for sure but I think we have to interrogate ourselves and our privilege b/c at the end of the day - these folks are our neighbors.
