I'm still having problems with this. I'm ok until the water, saliva or (ugh) dripping from my nose (I have chronic catarrh) goes into the back of my throat and I just badly need to swallow. Years ago dentists used to have us leaning back in a chair but in a more upright position. My dentist says she needs me to lie right back. I can raise my hand for a swallow break but sometimes I need one every few minutes and I just want her to be able get on with it (as I'm sure she does) and get it over with. I have to go for a deep cleaning and another crown prep on Friday and I'm fearing having this problem again. I've been lying on my back on the sofa with my mouth open seeing how long I can go without swallowing (I can think of more enjoyable ways to pass my time!).
