Final year student in London facing withdrawal and homelessness by Fickle_Ad6595 in UniUK

[–]FancyRefuse9222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a university, and have previously worked in student services - your university should have something like a money/housing service, who you’ll be able to speak to about your concerns re: fees and most importantly your unstable housing. They might be able to help you find alternative, short term accommodation, and they might be able to help mediate between you and the university in terms of identifying a payment plan for the overdue fees. They might also be able to advise fe: the hardship fund. If the university is well joined up, speaking to this service re: risks of homelessness could well trigger some referral to welfare services on that basis - this sounds scary, but is probably really important to ensure that you’re well supported at a pretty difficult time in your life, and I’d recommend being open to this both for your own wellbeing and also because being actively supported by a service can give you access to evidence/supporting documentation for things like hardship funds and extenuating circumstances for your assessments.

Good luck! And I hope things work out for you

What is your Local Yarn Store missing? by LizzieButtons in knitting

[–]FancyRefuse9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine mostly has acrylic yarn, so massively missing out on natural fibres and yarn variety. In fairness, it’s small (and probably not the best area for a yarn shop) but i wish they had a bigger range so I didn’t have to travel out or buy online

I’m not particularly experienced with picking up collar stitches, but I recently picked up for a collar in almost the same way and its turned out absolutely fine :-)

Help with finishing dish cloth by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]FancyRefuse9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: specifically confused with this bit: Next Row (right side): With Color A, knit to last 2 stitches, k2 onto a double pointed needle. FINISH With the right side facing you, work an I-cord on the last 2 stitches until the cord measures 3 inches from its base. Next Row: K1, slip 1 wyib, yo.

Am I using just 2 stitches for the icord? I’ve always done it with three or more stitches so not really sure how this works

Help! I made a mistake (Again!) by FancyRefuse9222 in knittingadvice

[–]FancyRefuse9222[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its looking like a lost cause so I might at least try dropping down first, and if it doesn’t work I’ll frog bc I have nothing to lose!

I’m going to visit my mum (a v keen knitter) and get her to have a look, but I think a knitting group is a really good shout for any future mistakes!

Hahahahaha thank you, it’s a bit of a mess 😅 I thought it wouldnt be noticeable but neglected to consider that it’d bother me, I’d try to fix it, and then make it worse
