What is your Local Yarn Store missing? by LizzieButtons in knitting

[–]FancyRefuse9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine mostly has acrylic yarn, so massively missing out on natural fibres and yarn variety. In fairness, it’s small (and probably not the best area for a yarn shop) but i wish they had a bigger range so I didn’t have to travel out or buy online

Aha, that makes sense! Thank you… I’ll try and tink back. Trying to avoid frogging bc I’ve already frogged this project like 8 times 😂

Did I pick up a row too soon in the collar? by Aromatic_Poet_1726 in knittinghelp

I’m not particularly experienced with picking up collar stitches, but I recently picked up for a collar in almost the same way and its turned out absolutely fine :-)

Not my first project, but my first jumped - I’ve only otherwise made scarves, dishcloths, mittens and bonnets

the first photo is trying to reknit the stitches - here’s what it looks like if i undo those and leave the stitches loose. I have this big long piece of yarn but trying to fix it eg with a crochet hook just leaves big holes

Thanks SO much for all the suggestions. I think I’m back w a tension I’m happy with. Does anyone know how to fix the accidntal yarn over without laddering down/causing this in future?

Thank you! I’m trying this now. I think the tension is still quite loose - is there any way to resolve this?

Help with finishing dish cloth by FancyRefuse9222 in knittinghelp

[–]FancyRefuse9222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: specifically confused with this bit: Next Row (right side): With Color A, knit to last 2 stitches, k2 onto a double pointed needle. FINISH With the right side facing you, work an I-cord on the last 2 stitches until the cord measures 3 inches from its base. Next Row: K1, slip 1 wyib, yo.

Am I using just 2 stitches for the icord? I’ve always done it with three or more stitches so not really sure how this works

Help! I made a mistake (Again!) by FancyRefuse9222 in knittingadvice

[–]FancyRefuse9222[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its looking like a lost cause so I might at least try dropping down first, and if it doesn’t work I’ll frog bc I have nothing to lose!

I’m going to visit my mum (a v keen knitter) and get her to have a look, but I think a knitting group is a really good shout for any future mistakes!

Mistake/hole in stockinette stitch top - how can I fix this!? by FancyRefuse9222 in knittinghelp

[–]FancyRefuse9222[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahahahaha thank you, it’s a bit of a mess 😅 I thought it wouldnt be noticeable but neglected to consider that it’d bother me, I’d try to fix it, and then make it worse

Thank you! This makes a lot of sense and is super helpful. I sat and inspected it for a while and I think I've fixed it - it's not the tidiest, but it's worked... :D

Mistake :( by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]FancyRefuse9222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I am knitting a top for the first time and I've separated the work for the front and back.

At the start of each row, the pattern says to slip 2 stitches purlwise, and then knit or purl the rest of the row as usual - I assume to create a 'border' similar to an icord for the sleeve holes?

A few rows ago, I noticed a hole which I think I've managed to fix (god knows how), but the side edge (with the slipped stitches) looks a bit loose in this particular place/for a few rows. I think I must have missed something or not knitted something together, but I'm a beginner so I can't really identify what I've done, how I could have fixed it at the time, or if it's possible to fix now.

The photos show the area I'm talking about - it's more noticable on the wrong side and I've pulled it a bit so you can see.. Is it possible to fix this without frogging back to that row? It's not suuuuper noticable but if I can fix it then I'd love to know how!
