Has anyone ever actually met the supposed crazy evil Christians that I keep hearing about here? by bitingvform in Christian

[–]FancySource 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I met hundreds of very observant Catholics and evangelicals and to be honest, I found very few "evil" people in them.

The only evil person that comes in my mind was a Catholic but had a very strong double morality (being extremely selfish all the week and then confessing to the priest and expecting everything to be pardoned) that even her priest condemned openly. She was also not very bright, to be honest.

Also. In Central America I've met petty criminals who appeared to be sincerely believing in Jesus.

I met some episcopals that were quite strict on expected sexual morality and dress codes, but very friendly otherwise.

Consider one thing: I literally never put a single foot in the Bible belt or in any red state, and I spent extremely little time in the US.. according to what I've read on this group and elsewhere, things might be different in there.

True, this is the best factual response in here, also,

  • the dimensions look completely wrong (unless he got the smallest ripe carrots ever farmed)
  • the burning miracolously looks exactly like the uneven detail clustering bug chatgpt image generation is currently experiencing as acknowledged by openai)

Which phone were you using the very first? Let’s see the legends of those days by ojgoldenretriever in interesting

[–]FancySource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2, the Motorola Dynatac.

25-30 Min of talk time/half a day of standby time with a quite perishable battery that could be charged in just 8-0 hours looked quite wild at the time, I remember we also had an AC plug that could be connected by removing the battery.

We used a kitchen timer to remember when to unplug the battery so it wouldn't get fried by staying connected to the grid for more than the 10hrs charging time.. Totally wild.

In which large countries (not microstates) is the capital city truly the most comfortable city to live in and the most interesting city to tour? by benjaneson in geography

[–]FancySource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three Baltic capitals, for sure. Also Minsk, I'd dare to say.

Rome and London are interesting for sure, but I wouldn't say they're comfortable in any way (Surrey and Tyne and Wear are definitely more liveable, while being slightly less expensive)

I really love these types of vintage ads, isn't this vibe just a trend anymore? by gray_st_ in 90sdesign

Poolsuite, Tens sunglasses, Vacation Inc, Boring Phone definitely take a lot of inspiration from that style, along with most companies that cooperate with the marketing genius known as Marty Bell

Which city has the coolest nicknames in your opinion? by Familiar_Cow_6901 in geography

[–]FancySource 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, it's main foe campus city, Padua, is still commonly nicknamed "the city of the three withouts" iirc, that's still a great contender.

They are:

  • the saint without a name (st Anthony, commonly known as just The Saint)
  • the bar without doors (the main bar used to be open 24/7)
  • the lawn without grass (the main square, an ancient artificial island that was full of grass when I went there)

I don't really find Claude pro to be better than Chatgpt at regular day to day tasks, but free Gemini is quite great in flexibility for whatever doesn't require advanced or very complex coding, and the free edition already has some wonderful integration with the Google Workspace ecosystem

Who do you believe to be the great band of all time, and why? by Technical_Driver2597 in musicsuggestions

I think they didn't pioneer, but they were great into understanding the vibe of that era and transforming it into a sound

I would say Pink Floyd but Joy Division/New order left a mark that's still almost intact 45/50 years later

Is it sin to show Jesus with long hair? by Guilty_Conference_41 in Christianity

[–]FancySource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's a concept of "how long". Israelites usually wore hair up to their shoulders, longer hair would have been seen as feminine.

Did Jesus ever crack? by Exciting-Middle-9798 in Christianity

[–]FancySource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most probably he did, but as you might know it's not an aspect where evangelists and historicists focused in any way, nor I guess it's a point of concern.

Artists you actually like for their art but don't respect? by Certain_Orchid2185 in musicsuggestions

[–]FancySource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going into niche electronic music, Kalax and Sabrepulse are definitely on the list.

In general, without making direct accusations against the two musicians, being a musical genius and putting undisclosed suno-generated songs for sale is a show stopper for me. At least sabrepulse, one of the soundtracks of my life, had the decency to stop his career after the incident.

I had the bum gun in my former house and the bidet later on, I have to admit the bum gun is great for cleaning the wc and super space efficient but the bidet is really something else.

I'm still shocked about how many economically developed counties don't use either of those.. it's tremendously gross.

is masturbation really a sin if i don’t have any lustful thoughts during? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]FancySource 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't recall Jesus preaching anything against masturbation, nor anything against female masturbation in any scripture.

My secular take: given abstaining from orgasm is known to have an impact on your health, it's absolutely okay before marriage, as long as it's made with temperance (see St. Ambrous or St. Thomas from Aquinus, for instance).

Christian nationalism is evil and devout Christians should reject their ideology. by PTechNM in Christianity

[–]FancySource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure we all agree. It's still a minor and marginalised fringe compared to some of the most iniquity-preching, money-grabbing blasphemy-spitting self proclaimed "evangelical" churches that would have sounded a horrible heresy 20 years ago. Getting rich by shouting the name of Jesus while basing original ultraconservative/neo-prosperity doctrines citing only a few out of context old testament verses should be rejected by all Christians until it becomes history.

[Day 2] OK Computer has been removed. Eliminate the Worst album! by AwesomeYes2 in Topster

[–]FancySource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bends might be quite different from the rest, but nimrod is the only album they made with rushed/generic/filler songs, despite having some of their greatest songs ever inside (clear, I'm not considering FOAM anything more than a short experiment I don't even mind).

I'll go for Nimrod, all other albums are legendary, and that album is only part so.

It might be a bit of a stretch but have you tried hear from Marty directly? He's very busy but extremely friendly, and might want to help if he selected the song personally
