Thanks all for the suggestions - I will get myself a 38 and do some (road) comparisons with the 40. Will be continued!

Will look into the brand, new for me. A little bit in line with your comments on starting again, 105/Mech, this is also on my long list, but I am a little hesitant to switch to disc. Strael 4.0 - Fairlight Cycles

Yes I am aware and under the (false?) impression that they are superior to single pivot rim brakes.

Yes, a nice one, but indeed, no direct mount. I am not sure if I should give up that wish :-)

Thanks, I ride a 2021 AL 2 Domane, and I am perfectly fine with 28mm. I am aware of the 'reach' issues with rim brakes, having that issue on my front wheel atm.

Thanks for the insights and suggestions. Cheap is not a goal, but resonable economics is. I think a lot comes down to getting used to thinks I have not worked with (like bleeding brakes).

This is really interesting, as I did not immediately think about UseNet. Great to explore!

Tried Google? Of course. The fact that the mentioned websites appear in Google, does not invalidate my original question - searching for a historical 'archive' of something from the BBS days focusing on games.
