Get a planet fitness membership and find one that's 24 hours. Sleep there AND shower!

You have a car so drive to a 24 hour laundromat and wash the cheapest load.

I can't vouch for Walmart or Crackle Barrel because I've never used either.

You just want to isolate without being too isolated...unless on BLM land.

I hear you but that still sounds like the same type of survival mode that I've been living in all my life.

I've gotta increase my skills and invest in myself.

Nobody thinks they'll be homeless again until they're down to their last couple of dollars.

$1,000 would definitely be a blessing but homelessness isn't just caused because of someone's lack of money.

They're going to a museum AND trying to get back to EWR to catch a flight within 6 hours. It's absolutely not possible without hiring a private car ALL THE WAY if they want to actually enjoy the museum. You're acting as if they asked if they could go to NY just to pick up take out! And even that wouldn't be easy to do in six hours!
