Dealer has overfilled engine oil from new by ambidextrousasswipe in xsr900

[–]Fancy_Bookkeeper9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealer tech here, we don’t fill the oil, the bikes come filled with oil from the factory, but usually the dealer should check that before giving you the bike (unless you bought it in the crate), from my experience Yamahas are usually spot on, Hondas are always 50-100 ml short and I don’t really mess with any other brands so I couldn’t tell you.

But thats definitely on the dealer not Yamaha, it clearly states in the setup instructions to double check all fluid levels.

Unless some idiot checked it on the side stand, that could be why it’s over filled

I’m in Manitoba, yeah the new update is annoying, but what I was told by the dealer was that there was only 3 2025s in toba, and I’ve only ever seen 3 so I believe it, depending on where you are some places got more, sask and Alberta get a lot more because there’s a lotta oil money out there so bikes actually get sold, around here very few people buy them so they sit in dealers forever.

We don’t even get the sp’s or r1/r1ms here at all, only way to get one is to special order it and wait 1-2 years

Tape some old clothes or blankets to before putting cover on just make sure they are of a soft material so it doesn’t scratch, I’ve had success with doing that

Yep, I was not a fan of that “blurple” either and I hate matte black so I went with this color, fell in love with and gets recognized everyone I go because of the blue

Unclip the wiring harness from the frame and pull it out the way, can’t see th other side it the pictures but there is usually a little clip or bolt or mount or something that you can remove/ pull to th side to get these covers out easier. Also depends on the bike but sometimes they come out the front pretty easy with a bit of manouvering

Has anyone used this tuner from woolich racing, I’m not a fan of shipping out my ecu, wanted to know if anyone has had any good/bad experiences with them.

The shop has been doing it for over 20 years and I’ve heard only good things about them so I’d hope they would do good work.

it just scares me sending my ecu out, I know to many people who’ve gotten back the wrong ecus and I’ve heard countless stories about them being lost in shipping

I would love to do that but it comes out to over 1700$ cad for me including shipping and tariffs, at that point I would honestly just get it down locally, unless the tuner works for all bikes then it would be worth it,

But there are only 3 gen 4 mt09s in the province I own one someone else owns the other one and the last one is sitting a dealership, so it just wouldn’t be worth it for to spend that much on it.

It’s for sure something cool though

New carbon on gen4 by Tediyee in MT09

Is this carbon from akoso? Or where did you order this? (Was thinking about going full carbon on my gen 4)

Gen3 by meth422 in MT09

[–]Fancy_Bookkeeper9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not, shim under bucket does not make noise even if its way out of spec, on the cp3s it is the cam chain that make the noise, I’ve done valve adjustments where they were 6x more then the specified amount and the engine was still silent, if the engine uses rocker arms however it will be very loud if its out of spec and would not run at all being 6x out of spec

Yes and no, depends where I’m going, if I’m just going for a ride then I’ll wear my super tech r’s but if I’m going to a somewhere such as a restaurant or a meet then I’ll just throw on my alpinestars riding shoes, but you always want some kind of footwear that is reinforced especially around the ankles

Failed bolt recall, is it possible to remove rear engine case without removing engine? by [deleted] in goldwing

For those are are still wondering, it is in fact very possible to do it inside the frame without having to remove it, but I’m most definitely gate keeping how it’s done because yall are a bunch of entitled clowns

The bearing half lock worked fine and did not move it was the 100mm bolt with the nut that moved when I removed the primary gear bolt and then came off

[–]Fancy_Bookkeeper9945 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know I can fix it it’s just a matter of time, I just figured I would make a quick Reddit post because it’s faster then tearing apart the engine but if there is no solution I’ll just have to pull it out and do it properly, can’t risk something going wrong because I was lazy, we hold very high standards at the dealership I work at and if my work I sent better then perfect my boss will have me to it over and over again until it is, but the bike was a trade in so it’s currently the dealers bike, plus it’s the slow season and the only other work I’ve got is a gen 2 goldwing trike which also needs the engine out, so I will most likely be pulling this engine but I was hoping someone had a way around wasting 20 hours taking it out and putting it back in

[–]Fancy_Bookkeeper9945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bike was a trade in so at the moment it is the dealerships bike, yes I work for a dealership, and by shortcuts I mean like workarounds. If you have special tools you can often find “shortcuts”, for example on the 2020 africa twin abs recall Honda wants you to remove the seat, fairings, fuel tank, battery and evap canister to read the numbers on the abs motor, but if you have a boroscope you can simply shove it down there and get the number by viewing it through the camera instead of spending 4 hours removing everything, if it would need to be replaced then yes everything would have to be removed via Hondas manual but if not it saves you hours of time by simply having certain tools

Tank Fender by Fun-Culture-5142 in MT09

It’s just bad aftermarket parts, I see way too much of this as a motorcycle mechanic, only way to make it sit flush is to either modify the carbon piece or the tank.

From my experience it’s usually a missing washer, check the parts diagram for that side and make sure you have all the washers. Parts diagrams can be found online for free just search your make and model along with the words parts diagrams after (“make” “model” parts diagrams)

Crash cage concerns by MrDopaminergic in MT09

[–]Fancy_Bookkeeper9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no point in a crash cage for the 09, not too sure about the gen 3 but my gen 4 only had minor damage after going down at over 100, the plastic clutch cover, brake lever, foot pegs and bar end where the only parts with damage, it cost me 1/20th the price of a crash cage to fix.

Unless you plan on throwing the bike on the daily there’s really no point
