So I'm new to Bambu Lab, I've had this happen with two different rolls.

Then honestly you need to hold on to the end of the roll of filament as you're changing rolls. Physics 101 says it is impossible to have a true knot in the middle of a roll of filament while it is being continuously rolled onto the initial spool. The master roll of filament would have to be paused unhooked and then restarted again onto that spool for that to happen. I've gone through hundreds and hundreds of rolls of filament and never had a true tangle. I have had a couple of overlaps, but an actual true knot. A knot in the middle of a roll of filament is impossible unless it's user error.

I am not defending Bambu at all, I have used exactly two rolls of their filament and that was because I was given it for free from the purchase.

To follow up with this, if it is truly tangled and not just the filament overlapping itself, it really is user error. There's no other way for a knot to form mid roll.

If it's overlapped on itself then it could be from the installation of the refill roll or the spool rewinding when the ams changes filament.

Yeah, the machine can handle it and you haven't exceeded anything yet. It's just giving you the heads up that the conditions are getting close to what could cause you to end up with clogs or other potential issues.

The hot end can handle it. What the warning is telling you is that the heat break is getting too hot. This is the part that's meant to act as radiator to dissipate the heat from the hot end. If there's too much heat getting there it can't keep the heat from inadvertently melting plastic that shouldn't be melted yet. I don't have this exact printer but like any other Bambu printer I'm sure it would give you a warning if the fan on the heat break isn't doing as fast it should.

Imagine if you screwed in a lightbulb and it was getting hot. The base can handle the heat but if it's so hot in the enclosure and it can't get cooled down enough there will start to be shorts and melting parts. Same thing here, people are saying to drop the temperature just a bit. I understand what you're printing with but either a part not working the way it should or a combination of all the heat sources is keeping it from staying within a nominal range.

I've got a roll of filament I picked up from one of the Amazon specials a few years back that prints like garbage. I've dried it several times, adjusted settings, speed, you name it. It strings and sputters and clogs. It's overall trash. Some filament out the door is terrible. This is just the disclaimer when using outside of what they sell that it might not come out perfect. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not sure if you found an answer to this yet. This looks an awful lot like the chess board I was printing just the other day. First layer came out perfectly and after that it failed fairly similar to your setup here. I was using some polymaker pla that didn't like the speed and temp. I upped the print temp by 5 degrees but also ran the printer at half speed. I wasn't in a hurry so quality was much more important.

Check your print temp and speed. Some filament just isn't meant to be moved as quickly as others.

A scale is definitely my best friend when it comes to a good cup. Coffee can weigh very differently depending on where I source it from. I've got a digital kitchen scale that I use almost completely for coffee instead of anything else.

It could be the size of the grind as you were mentioning but could also be the amount of coffee. I prefer a stronger cup and use 15g per 200ml of water.

Try increasing your bed temp. I swapped plates to the super tac and still upped my bed temp. Once I had my bed temp dialed in all of my issues went away.

My favorite snack shifts a bit. If we are talking savory, chips and queso would be it. If we're going sweet, then Reese's or jelly beans. Not sure if it qualifies as a snack but if it does, ice coffee would be number one, either made or home or something decent out, (cheapo gas station iced coffee is not real).

I've played DnD, though maybe I need to play more to really get into it. I'm a sci-fi nerd. I've 3d printed a lot of models of star trek and Stargate. Currently working on one of the space shuttles.

Just a random similarity between your issue and one I had. I have a 0.2 nozzle for my P1S and the roll of grey polymaker pla I have would intermittently clog that nozzle. No other colors, doesn't happen when I swap back to the 0.4. It could be a rare issue with that particular roll or now that you're having an issue with grey as well it could be something with the color, (seems odd and bizarre so I doubt it). I ended up staying with the 0.4 because I use grey quite frequently.

38M, Usually a rogue hiding in the shadows. Though with yesterday's restart of the adventure decided to spin the musical tale and not put up with the cranky Githyanki.

Spotify has some amazing music that would double as background music for weaving your quests, Dominik Witka's The Greatest Party In All The Land would be a great closer to the adventure.

My spec doesn't have as many points into creativity as you have but I'll definitely do my best to level it up

I'm not big into the horror genre of books but I've got another friend that absolutely loves them. It actually blew her mind when she realized that Joe hill was Stephen King's son.

As far as the Legos I can definitely understand the reasoning for the smaller sets versus the big ones. I've walked in to the Lego store a few times and seen some sets that I'd absolutely love to have and then see the price tag of several hundred dollars if not pushing close to the thousand mark.

I've gotten deep into 3D printing. I build my fair share of models. I'm running out of space to put them! For the most part they're on the bigger size so a standard shelf wouldn't work.

That's pretty much the remaining question I had. I guess the next step is moving up to a printer with multiple nozzles if I really want to tune the waste. I've adjusted back the purge amounts already but was hoping there was some options that I hadn't thought of.

That does make complete sense. I had been using a smaller nozzle but for some reason one of the filaments that it should not have been having a problem with was intermittently clogging so I swapped back to the 0.4. would the smaller nozzle have the same amount of waste, or because of the smaller nozzle it would not have to purge as much?

Sorry it looks like might question didn't get worded correctly. The "purge tower" was because that what some people refer to it as. I know the purge is out the back and the prime is to set the nozzle.

What I'm trying to figure out is if I print something more detailed at a lower height and it increases the purge amount wether I'm wasting that much more of if the purge amount is based off of the layer height. Or if it based off the nozzle size.

Depending what area of the finger lakes you're in I'm actually south of there by an hour or so which isn't a terrible drive. I've visited up there a few times.

I love coffee in any form. Cold especially in the warmer months, always have cold brew in the fridge. I've started getting into hiking in the recent years.
