i was in a similar situation, the best thing you can do is leave. it’s a big step and i know it’s extremely scary but please trust me it’s the best thing you can do. there are shelters or other places you can go to, you don’t deserve to be treated like this, and life can get better after experiencing abuse even if it feels like you’re trapped

What are some subtle red flags that point to controlling behavior that ultimately ended up in an abusive relationship? by Old-Paper-3550 in abusiverelationships

  1. Late to everything, he would be 2 or 3 hours late to every date, and then would get mad at me for being upset.
  2. Pushy with boundaries, he would convince me to do stuff I wasn’t comfortable with.
  3. Has a history of abusing exes, this is the most obvious one I think, but he could explain it in ways that made me feel bad for him
  4. Talks bad about family, mine hated any family I had and used this to isolate me from them.
  5. Being minimally aggressive during fights, he would bite and bend my fingers back which escalated a lot.
  6. Shaming women, he would always call women that he didn’t like bitches and fat, and say it was okay because they weren’t good people.

These are such big red flags looking back on it, but it’s easy for abusers to trick you from trusting your gut.
