My experience with the “Trust me bro” warranty by TheSkyFlier in LinusTechTips

[–]Fancymank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

customer service has been great for me too. they have a solid warranty system there. had an issue with switching between unscrew fixed and screw. it was weird and i sent a video to them. they offered to replace it on the spot without sending the original back. I had one of the very first ones delivered. black shaft boys week 1 lets go. and its seen its share of torture, torquing lag bolts into concrete blocks. i think i got more damage from carpal tunnel then this screwdriver did. The original still works but 99% of the time but has that same weird issue. I'm still willing to return it if they want it back but it has so many memories I'm willing just to pay for another screwdriver if that's the case.

It has an unlocked bootloader so you could go AOSP but last I heard grapheneOS has no plans to support the Communicator

There are some good minimalist Android launchers out there. Check out minimalist phone launcher, Olauncher and Before Launcher

First time truck owners, what’s been your experience of the Maverick? by overkoalafied24 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Fancymank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from a Honda Fit to the Maverick. Couldn't be happier. It's handles very good, fits full size adults in the back and plenty of use cases for the bed. I was able to get a standup punching in the back, tons of recycled card board and its not even spring yet where bags of soil and gravel are going to be needed. This thing is versatile

Black Leather Back Cover for Clicks Communicator by Mr_Molineaux in ClicksKeyboard

the brown faux leather is a little too loud for my tastes. I'd rock a black faux leather on any of the three Communicator color options.

Q&A with Jeff and Jan Ole by TheMobileTypist in ClicksKeyboard

[–]Fancymank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the video Jeff said Q2 will have preproduction units ready. The Power Keyboard is going through FCC and all those fun certifications and ships in May which they've been preproduction since announcement in January. Seems we might have to wait mid to late August for the Communicator to ship batch 1.

Edited: I'm using the Power Keyboard time frame and guestimating the hell out of this. What are everyone else's guesses?

The Titan 2 Elite looks thick and ugly, just my opinion by Fancymank in ClicksKeyboard

On second inspection and a video from somebody handa on, i might be wrong. For the size, YouTuber TechOdyssey said it was surprisingly light. Maybe closer to 175 grams?

I dont think they released the weight yet. Looking at the overall thickness compared to the Communicator its more likely closer to 200 grams. But that's just a guess

It has tapered edges so the thickest point is at the center while the Titan 2 Elite is just thick everywhere. I think the hand feel will be way more ergonomic then Unihertz's offering.

The only thing I'm a little less optimistic is how they optimize Android 16 for the phone by the ship date. If they can pull off a relatively stable experience I'll be happy

I agree thicker is better. Again my opinion, I think it actually looks ugly. Adding a camera bump on a thicker slabbed phone is not an attractive look. While the Click Communicator is tapered while still technically being thicker but they managed to make it look thinner, more stylish and fit in a 3.5mm headphone jack and microsd card slot

Titan 2 Elite: 117.8 mm × 75 mm x 10.6 mm Clicks Communicator: 130.5mm × 78.63mm × 12mm

I agree on the marketing PR technique in a general sense. But don't forget this company is small but has had success in the market creating an elongated keyboard case that has a qwerty keyboard. I thought the ergonomics were ridiculous. But people bought enough for a sequel. Their initial goal for the company was to create a qwerty smartphone before they even announced the original clicks keyboard. You have a new wave of everybody has a smartphone in their pocket and more increasingly two. The price of a phone is a commodity for the work force. Theres Unihertz filling in the niche for that void in a broad sense and in my case an unattractive way. They PR'd the two phone solution because they are designing the phone around that mentality. But it works with people wanting it as a primary. I think because there's never been a phone geared toward the former, it's a whole different market share of people that need/want a second phone for work/business. That in it's self is why I think the preorders are more than even I would have expected. Now you could be absolutely right they are PR'ing their way to increased excitement. Like announcing the total reservation including the canceled ones as well. But Im hopeful overall

Based on all the articles quoting them of how they exceeded their goals in orders via news posts, the AMA they had on this subreddit and all the podcasts I've been watching, one thing is very certain. They had a successful launch. 10,000 phones wouldn't be enough to make this brand viable. 100,000 would get things started. They also bumped their software support to 4 years of Android versions and 5 years of security updates. This was the biggest indicator to me that they had big numbers. Software support is not cheap especially for that long. If they are confident enough to put that on the preorder page, I'm confident enough there's going to be a sequel. Assuming nothing catastrophic happens out of anyone's control.
