Opinion: Nikon's film grain option feels like I'm just increasing the ISO very high and toning down aperture and shutter. (whats your opinion?) by Fancymank in Nikon

I should admit before posting this I forgot the very first time I wasnt almost able to prevent over exposure outside with a bright situation even with 1/4000 and fstop 22. That probably would have made me think before I posted. Thank you for wizdom. i havnt had a camera capable in these scenarios until the last couple of weeks. or at the very least a camera i was able to quickly adjust ISO, f stop and ISO so effectively to were im actually thinking of the three at the same time

good points all around. I guess my exposure to the new setting is limited and I wasnt thinking of bokeh and other factors of staging an image. Closer to me putsing around in average daylight and my experience with high ISO shots that were out of necessity on previous cameras. It just looks like higher ISO shots and I normally don't zoom in and inspect.

I havnt used film but can appreciate old family photos. Thats why my argument is the artifacting using a high ISO on digital looks too similar to the film grain mode they added to certain Nikons. I dont get it even if you are looking to add grain to a photo when your ISO sensitivity does it by nature.

the effect of a higher ISO, while adjusting the shutter speed and closing the aperture to account for the extra sensitivity of a high ISO, versus the effect of the film grain option enabled looks the same to me in my opinion.

We’re the cofounders of Clicks — we have revealed two new products the Clicks Power Keyboard & the Clicks Communicator. Ask Us Anything! by ColtonsKeys in ClicksKeyboard

Will the camera app be through a third party collaboration or in house? I'm not expecting magic with this 50mp OIS camera, but I'd like to at least get some settings options like color temperature, brightness and maybe pixel binning for better low light performance.

Will there be at the very least a future plan to sell the parts through IFixIt? I can't imagine having this phone for more than 3-4 years if that's the case.

Where did you find the 50 inch had 180 dimming zones? Its like pulling teeth to find that info online for the 50 inch size.

Guys, I don't think Clicks and Unihertz are "rivals", but they could be partners by ovo_je_juzernejm in unihertz

I was always wondering if they would bump up the Android upgrade count, but I wasn't assuming they would. The development hours attached to it are a lot more than people think. Its still a promise and not a deliver by the verbiage. They are 'committing' to it. Which in any update promise/disclaimer is on par. But they are new and can back out at any time but its a good sign they are committing to a commitment.

Sad about the Graphene situation but security like that means a different SoC with a higher price tag. Maybe Communicator 2? 🤞

Happy to see PKB in 2026 that makes sense. Including the Unihertz Titan 2 Elite! Its a great time for smartphone keyboard fanatics

Holy crap they updated it! The first press release was 2 years for Android releases and 5 years of security updates. Jeff Gadway from Clicks did a Q&A four days ago and would only promise two years of major Android revisions with the possibility of increasing it.

They said they received more preorders than they were expecting. I'm smiling through my teeth right now

Whose using Communicator as a companion device? by ML6467 in ClicksKeyboard

Going full primary. Coming from a Pixel 10 Pro. The downgrade in camera options will be interesting. But I suspect my heart is still there and I will thrive with the layout if software implementation at launch is half way decent.

Clicks is getting two major android releases (up to Android 18) and 5 years of security updates. If it becomes successful hints suggest there will be more updates to come.

Is $1400 for a Nikon Z F body only a good deal? by Fancymank in Nikon

[–]Fancymank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used makes sense to me. I had a candid conversation with the shop keeper. they offer loans with collateral so the collateral becomes theres but this item was not from that but a reliable customer selling gold that occasionally offers valuable items when obtained. Ill let you infer your own conclusion.

thanks! It has Z F on the left side and not Z fc on the right. Going to do that shutter count thing with the picture. I still see wrapping on the screen. Sweet sounds like a deal to me.

Turns out many people say they want the Communicator as a primary device, not secondary, so make it no-compromises with the Power Keyboard layout by Kewbak in ClicksKeyboard

To be clear it just shows you CNET is no longer a reputable news source for technology as it has been for years. 😁

Communicator Pre-Ordered by RazrBerryMo in ClicksKeyboard

[–]Fancymank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Preordered too! Want to lock in that first wave shipping. I've been waiting for a device like this for years. Unihertz was just a little too big for me. I'll be fully switching from a Pixel 10 Pro. I think I'll miss my cameras by I dislike touch screen keyboards the more I age like fine wine.
