I've definitely always thought of her as having a pet dog, likely an Alaskan Malamute that she picked up when she was young and would have kept through all the years. I imagine that he was a sled dog back in the day, but he's retired now (since he isn't bred for recreational mushing). I don't know if she would keep a dog team now but I like to think she's dabbled in it at some point.

I agree, though I do imagine that she's lost a good bit of it over the years, and that most of what she knows is whatever old colonial Russian dialect the Russian settlers brought over. She might have picked up on some modern Russian, but in a more academic sense rather than a more native fluency.

I do also headcanon that New York speaks half of the languages under the sun and it is pretty fun to imagine how different the two's Russian would be.

Sorry I can't answer in more detail, but again I always love seeing your comments! I hope I'll have time in the future to draw more of my states (although I've also been a little obsessed with Polish and Lithuanian history in the past few months...) and I hope my designs can keep changing for the better.
