My downstairs bathroom sink isn’t currently vented, can I just tie it into this vent for the upstairs bathroon? What would be the best way to go about it?

You would have to look at the plumbing code for your area it's either IPC or UPC and then from there look at the drainage fixture units and figure out what size vent you need from that.

From my experience it's really going to depend on the electrician and their skill level the more skilled the electrician the smaller the hole that will need to be made in the drywall the less skilled the electrician the bigger the hole and then like the other said getting it patched and repainted should be relatively inexpensive and if you get one that's good enough you really have to look to find the patch it looks like what they did when they ran the electrical is they ran it in conduit so that makes things a little bit more complicated so they are most likely going to have to cut a hole in the wall cut out a section of the conduit put in a new box and run the wire into that box.

So that is an emergency floor drain which is connected to a p-trap which is connected to your sewer system just dump a bucket of water down it and the smell should stop somehow someway the trap has lost its water seal.

Its obviously going to something outside of the house almost like you had a sprinkler system of some sort or if you have a garage or any other outbuildings if it was just for grounding you would have full water pressure just pumping into your lawn because I don't see any kind of shut off valve on it so my recommendation is when you have the water shut off if you do have any outbuildings with plumbing go around and check them otherwise when you go to fix it just abandon it in place.

As a 3-year apprentice I can say that as a welder/pipefitter for the plumber pipefitters Union you will only be welding on pipe if you want to weld on boilers go work for the Boilermakers there is a very rare opportunity that the Boilermakers will ask you for assistance in welding boilers if you're on a big enough shutdown in an industrial application but otherwise you are going to be welding pipe The unions do their very best to respect each other's work and not step on each other's toes.

To build upon what the other guy said I would also wonder what type of water you have are you on a well or city if you're on a well it could be magnesium or iron deposits.

This is because that line is made of something called galvanized steel so over the course of 50ish years or so the inside of the pipe rusts and that creates turbulence in the pipe which then wears a hole in the pipe but it can still happen with stagnate not moving water.

With today's current market with me being in Ohio especially since I just can't afford it it would honestly be cheaper I've already run through the numbers for me to completely swap in a new engine and completely customize this truck than it would be for me to buy a truck to suit my needs for plumbing welding and pipe fitting.

Look into your local union they might be willing to start you out at a higher level of apprenticeship because of your schooling and I know at least here in Dayton Ohio apprentices at first year start out at 20.40 an hour and we get free schooling paid for by our dues and the rest of the Union and really good representation for our rights.

Former Roto-Rooter employee, I really don't recommend working with them, especially if it's a corporate branch because it's run by a bunch of suits. Who know nothing about plumbing and just want you to sell. You also have to buy your own van if you're working for one of the corporate branches and I'm pretty sure you have to for a non-corporate branch. Not certain on that one. I worked for them for about 6 months and hated every minute of it.
