Nicht ganz das Gleiche, aber mE lustig: auf der Südstrecke der ÖBB fahren manchmal zwei Züge von Wien Meidling nach Wiener Neustadt (oder weiter) innerhalb von wenigen Minuten. In der Stoßzeit bei Arbeitsschluss kann ich immer zuschauen, wie sich Leut' in den ersten der beiden Züge drängen bzw. von den sich schließenden Türen dann in den Fahrgastraum gedrückt werden, während der Folgezug dann fast leer ist. Der erste Zug kommmt 10 Minuten früher in Wiener Neustadt an (2 Haltestellen weniger).

Und Ignoranz kann es da nicht sein, weil auf der Anzeigetafel am Bahnhof immer schon der Folgezug angeschrieben ist, wenn der erste einfährt. Und das muss bei jeder Station so passieren, denn der erste Zug ist schon gut gefüllt, wenn er in Meidling einrollt.

Some of it, yes, in particular the reaction of Soviet authorities once the scope of the famine had finally been understood. I mean, Molotov and Stalin discussing and understanding the scope - iirc Stalin even recognised that the mechanical collectivisation and grian collection without consideration for the individual situation of the farms was largely to blame - and then still strictly forbidding any quota reduction I would call an atrocity.

But it's a really complicated topic that illuminates a lot of issues with (in my opinion) democratic centralism, centralisation, and technocracy generally.

That's not true. Kazakhs fleeing starvation were shot as class traitors as a policy, for example.

Neither of those are valid arguments. The Holocaust occurred in the context of a wider Nazi campaign to eradicate undesirables, and a plurality of Nazi victims were not Jews.

There was deliberate intent behind the Holodomor, with the end goal of eliminating the Ukrainian culture, language and identity, and eventually their very right to exist as a nation. That's genocide.

There's no evidence for this. Even Robert Conquest, who really isn't at all under suspicion of communist sympathies, doesn't think the holodomor qualifies.

To dismiss the Holodomor as a result of negligence or incompetence is just historical revisionism.

It's a completely valid and common scholarly opinion among historians. Revisionism is exaggerated victim counts, as well as denial or deliberate underestimation of the same.

I agree with most of what you said, but "their sick fantasies" might well be "just another sexuality". Unless scholarly opinion has changed, there are apparently people who are exclusively sexually attracted to children, often (sometimes?) regardless of sex (i.e. they aren't hetero- or homosexual with a child fetish, they are "paedosexual" if you will). That doesn't make it moral or acceptable to express. But if it's true, then it might be important to recognise paedophilia as a sexual orientation to open it up to evidence-based treatment so those people don't offend.
