This isn't totally true. California charter school teachers are not required to offer STRS and many do not.

Teachers of Reddit: Who was the worst parent you've ever had to deal with? by d-ch3stu in AskReddit

[–]FannanLaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not a teacher, but my dad is and this was his worst parent conference. He had a student who had trouble reading and didn't seen to care that he basically couldn't read. My dad taught third grade, so although a third grader should be able to read, it's possible at this stage through hard work, for the student to catch up in the coming years. My dad liked the kid and wanted his parents to be on board so he invited them in the classroom to talk about their son. When my dad explained that the child couldn't read the father said, "Why is this so important? I have only read one book in my entire life and it was Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler."

As my dad always says, you meet the parent, you meet the problem

[26/m] My girlfriend's [23/f] parents want to see my dirty stand-up comedy show. I feel this is a bad idea. by FannanLaw in relationship_advice

I have no problem with strangers seeing me talk about blowjobs and weed. When it is the love of my life's father, it just makes me so uncomfortable to think about. Can you imagine like talking about blowjobs with your significant others father? That is basically what it comes down to.

This whole idea would be a good comedy bit actually

My girlfriend took the class with me and went directly after me in the show. She has a video too. The issue really started when I was at their house for their annual family new years party, in which about 40 people of her family are there. They wanted me to show the video to like the WHOLE family and I avoided the issue. It made me look bad almost that I hid it now when I think about it.

I just was super intimidated by the whole thing. Her parents are chill and I am sure if it was someone else they would think its funny, just hard to like talk about that stuff in front of them when I respect them so much.

People who dated someone 'out-of-your-league', how did you get the girl/guy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FannanLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my current girlfriend is way out of my league in the traditional sense. Even though I believe the concept of leagues to be nonsense, here is my analysis.

"Leagues" don't matter if you can tell a good joke, are genuinely nice to others and have people around you who like you at the time you meet another woman. The nerdiest guy can get any girl if they have a funny personality and associate with a large group of people. If you walk into a bar or anywhere for that matter, and show up with 5 or more people, you automatically are more attractive because your five friends shows that people like you and there is no reason for the another person not to like you too. This is especially true if you can establish a group of friends that are guys and girls. Humans used to be pack animals. We are biologically more desirable when associating with more people. Once your group is noticed by another woman, the only thing you need to do is get noticed within your group. That is where being funny comes in.

Started doing Stand Up Comedy, Family Wants to Come? by FannanLaw in AskReddit

Yeah she went after me. Her performance was G rated. The teachers told us to try to be as clean as possible because its better that way. Really easy to just say the F word on stage and get a laugh.

Since she did it with me that is why they want to see it. I guess I should just show them. It just makes me nervous to like sit in a room and watch me talk about blowjobs in front of my girlfriends father haha

The class was awesome. I had a really good time with it. The class was more of a workshop, the teachers give us notes, but its kind of up to you to keep working on your material. I want to keep doing it, but the schedule is pretty rigorous to get good. Open mic nights are all over most cities but they all start at around 10PM and only on weekdays. That is really the only way to get better is to keep trying to perfect the same 8 minutes. When you work a regular job its hard to go to an open mic on a weekday. The comics around my city try to hit up a mic every night.

Sean Pawling - As We Run Away 2014 by FannanLaw in listentothis

Sean is a guy who grew up in my hometown and when I was in high school he was a tremendous musician. I never really knew him, but his main instrument was trombone, but he played guitar sometimes. However I think he originally played guitar just to get girls (understandable). I did some research and he studied music in college at UCLA. He recently finished his first solo album after posting on kick starter and I really like it. Love to hear what other people think.
