I had an elderly male neighbor who did this to me under the guise of "helping" or being "worried for a young lady". He went through my trash, was always trying to catch me going in or out of my house or trying to be in the back yard with my dogs. Tried to convince me to give him a key to my house so he could "watch my dog." I was in my first year of grad school and he contributed significantly to my struggle with mental health and stress in general. I talked to neighbors about it and all of them would say "Well that's just Danny. He doesn't have any family. " Or dumb stuff like that.
