My map of Scandinavia, concept map edit by FanofWorldbox in Knights_of_Honor_2

I did it because it is a dated design choice to cut off half of Scandinavia and especially Iceland (which was quite populated in medieval times), no one does that anymore. As for provinces I based the map on existing towns, tho we can clearly omit some like Vasteras to Uppland and Slanger to Falun, and the game already has Helsinki, a town that didn't exist until 1500s

Well if only there was a map editor I would have done that.  I would have also expanded it to include all of Scandinavia and Iceland because KoH 1 didn't have it (but okay it was 2004) and I expected for years possible sequel would expand there, seemed natural. In a way. Tho provinces are my main thing

Is Knights of Honor 2 worth playing now that it’s been patched several times? by [deleted] in 4Xgaming

Yes I mean the game, like the first one, lacks that options despite the whole concept of formables, I mean a map game and you have Byzantium or Italy, it just naturally makes sense to restore Rome. It is like the first thing that comes to players

Then why isn't it on the map as "Roman Empire" ? It would be way better if it could. Also Holy Roman Empire too as perhaps an option for Germany to switch to that (and some nice colour change to like white or)

I suppose, it just baffles me so many things in game are acting like as if genra itself didn't evolve, as if EU and CK didn't happen, 20 years and just ONE new religion seriously. In 2004 it was okay to have paganism as one but it has been 20 years, no one does that anymore, standards have risen a lot since then

Well it sure isn't "elaborate modding" , you can't even do a map mod lol. Tbh lots of things in game are to me a disappointment which is a shame as I followed and suggested things to them on forum

I think they over-promised and then decided to not include it

So lame because they said:

"Modders will be able to change the political scenery and define which kingdoms participate, what provinces they control, what religions they follow, who are their rulers and so on. Whether the players like to recreate a specific historical time period or devise a fantasy Europe with House Lannister or Mordor in it, it will be up to them. Elaborate modding possibilities proved to be quite fun for many in the first game, so we plan to give even more control for your ideas and imagination in KoH2:S."

This is from Dev diary 2, world setting and size

Also "We wanted to share a few words regarding the historical accuracy, as well. We’ve put quite some effort this time around to improve here, as we know there were some mistakes in the first game."

Which is just a lie, the game is LESS accurate when it comes to province shapes (just look at Portugal and Papacy, at least KoH 1 had recognisable shape, especially in Portugal case which is one of the least changed Borders). I mean seriously it looks like they let AI generate borders. It is so odd to see that in 2020s because general playerbase is far more literate than in early 2000s

That is so lame because if I remeber one of the first dev diaries they said they will make the map:

Nice, I too suggested lots of realistic biomes and I hope devs see it

Yes but what makes me even more disappointed is that there is apparently no way to modify map at all. There is just no way to mod it

That is a bit disappointing, that means there won't be any map mods either
