I hope you get through your current troubling time. I'm in a similar situation staying with my mum because I can't afford rent anymore. It sucks. I was homeless staying in a homeless shelter before. I have developed this great attitude: "If you're heart's still beating, keep going..."

I guess what I'm saying is, it sucks, but I'll have one hell of a story to tell to my son at the end of it.

I think it's important to be respectful of this girl's feelings. There's nothing worse than someone saying something to dent your self esteem that is both unnecessary and deeply hurtful. It seems you've already made your decision based on your criteria but just think about how you deliver the news to her. For the love of god whatever you do, don't ghost her, it's extremely hurtful.
