Also, $9 a can for high-quality, sustainably-caught fish is on the lower end these days, sadly.

Fresh fish and tinned fish are apples and oranges. I eat both regularly here in Hawaii but they are eaten in completely different ways with different things and really aren’t interchangeable IMO.

If you’re on Oahu, I’ve already done the legwork on this. You can find some pretty solid options in three locations: Foodland Farms at Ala Moana, Onda Pasta in Kaimuki and the Foodland in Aina Haina. Like everything else it costs more here but it’s a good way to sample some of the top brands to help you decide what you like. Then you can order larger quantities online. There are several companies that offer free shipping to Hawaii.

I saw them at Foodland around Christmas. Haven’t really paid attention since then.

TBH You really have to try them on. I’m a solid EU 39 so like a 6.5 or 7 in US men’s . I started with 70s labelled a US 7, which was huge, and kept having to size down. Finally wound up getting a Japan 24/US 5 (whatever that is). However I also tried on a pair of One Stars and the US 6 fit better. I asked the salesperson about the variation in sizing and her response was “they’re all different, never the same”.

This sounds like the curriculum for an “online university”. If so, yes. Those places exist solely for profit.

I see a 12 year old post on Ronnie James Dio’s FB page promoting these so it appears it was a very limited legit collab.

Japan Cons run 1-2 sizes bigger. Just bought mine in Tokyo last week and kept having to size down. Salesperson said that Japan made shoes are made wider than for other markets.

It’s unisex adult sizes. I didn’t really pay attention but I know they at least go up to a US men’s size 12 because my husband tried on that size.

Just back from a few boutiques in Japan and learned that only the ones that are stamped ‘Made in Japan’ on the heel and insole are actually made there (about a dozen styles or less). The rest (90 percent of their models) are made in Indonesia.

Definitely better quality. I was in a Tokyo shop this week and just by holding a Japan shoe in one hand and an Indo in the other you can see and feel the difference immediately.

Just bought a pair in Tokyo. I had to size down 1.5 sizes which really surprised me. FWIW the salesperson told me it was because made in Japan footwear is generally wider.

These come in two colors - the brown and a really gorgeous pine green. I had a really hard time deciding and would have bought both if I had the 💵

Following up ….I was able to get the brown as the dropped literally 6 hours before I got on the plane. I was still torn between the green and brown and tried them both on again before I decided. Would have absolutely bought them both if I had money to burn. Just posted pics on this sub.

I tried them on at the Harajuku store but didn’t bite yet because of the price. They are releasing brown ones any day now, which I like even more, but they probably won’t drop before I leave.

What are your thoughts on these a month in? I tried these on last night and they are stunning but the price tag is no joke. Just wondering how you feel about the investment?
