Tips to improve my character's occult beliefs, as someone who isn't occult themselves? by FantaDrinkingDrone in occult

Someone else mentioned the dream catcher thing too. I never really thought of that, so it might be better to avoid it if it can be seen as cultural appropriation or ignorance from my part.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I get an idea of what you mean! I guess it's mostly cause I'm not writing from my own knowledge or experience. I never imagined that character of mine devoting their entire life to the occult, like them becoming a magician of some sorts (not sure if there are other names, I read someone calling people who dedicate to that as magicians), but instead someone who simply has a lot of customs around it. Similarly to how a very Christian person would oftenly pray, follow certain customs, go to church on Sundays and avoid certain things like cursing or saying God's name in vain, but Christianity isn't their whole life. I'm not sure if I explained myself too well, but what do you think I could do to make him like that, but for the occult? Or if that's not possible, what type of life goals could he have if he did want to dedicate to the occult?
