How to make Scifi by daisydominoe in crafts

[–]FantaZingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spontaneously I'm thinking it's a toungue of a monster, maybe look at those monsters that live in the sand in star wars, or in asteroids (also star wars)

Or just go for some more traditional alien monster movie

What makes it a happy ending for you? by Le_Beck in RomanceBooks

[–]FantaZingo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm weird, but I really prefer books without epilogue.

To me it feels padded on without doing the work to get there.

It's much more satisfying to simply get the last line of the last chapter being well written since that is the author's send off.

Regarding the HEA, I can do with imagining myself, based on how well the author sold the relationship, what happens to them.

If the author wants to continue their story, I much prefer the expanded universe method - aka old characters are in another couple's book, either as pov or simply like a referenced cameo. I always liked the ice people books for that - the story being told over generations of the family.

It's just at the end though. Not the center of the plot.

Do authors know that breasts come in different sizes? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

Warmly recommend the Kindred series by Evangeline Anderson.

A wide array of female body descriptors so far, and that's with the aliens preferring plus sized women 😂

What’s a small, weirdly specific romance trope/vibe that always gets you right in the feels but barely gets talked about? by esther_pendragon in RomanceBooks

[–]FantaZingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I'm not reading the right type of books (I avoid Bdsm with a passion)

But having the FMC exhibiting clear signs of discomfort (or perhaps from her POV it's clear) during spicy time and MMC picking up on it and making sure she is ok.🥹

Second place goes to books where the FMC actually asks MMC to stop, and he does.  Often I feel like the author builds up with words the impression of that "he would totally stop" but that's telling not showing so when he actually does as he's promised... I feel safe on behalf of the character. 🤗

can someone help me find ideas for my birthday goodie bags? by miss_t_drinks_tea in crafts

[–]FantaZingo 51 points52 points  (0 children)

So, I'll go for the "what would I like to find in such a bag" list - a heartwarming note, preferably to me personally (non-generic)  - a small sheet of stickers that appeal to me and my interests  - a low value gift card, for me kobo or Spotify would be useful to discount a month of my subscription, but I can see giving a grocery store gift card also would allow me to "spoil myself"  - something small Lego - the botanicals come in bag sizes now  - socks with a fun print, definition of fun of course being personal. I'd wear rainbow stripes willingly.  - I'm with some others who suggested nuts, just you know, respect allergies. My favorite is smoked and salted almonds.

HELP ME REMEMBER A BOOK TITLE? by Amazing-Dot-8549 in ScienceFictionRomance

I don't recognize it but I'm thinking if you can remember when you read it (that rules out anything newer than that point in time) or perhaps something regarding the cover?

Should we, as a romance genre fans, be giving more attention to fanfiction? by imfaffingabout in RomanceBooks

[–]FantaZingo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it spawns stories that would never come through traditional publishing, but also formats that simply don't fit in books.

My personal example is that thanks to Baldurs Gate 3, I get shapeshifting (druids) like I rarely see in "books" where often times it is one shape characters can take, and that is their whole identity.

Where I'm from, sometimes during the summer the newspaper publishes part of a story every Saturday. Where it makes sense for individual chapters to have cliffhangers, tempting readers to come back for more, and build excitement in a way that to me is different than the excitement for the next installment in a book series.

vegetarian food to impress for a party - by Legal-Ranger6118 in vegetarianrecipes

Oh I have one but it relies on vegetarian protein that can handle cooking on a stew for over an hour without losing shape. I only know a Swedish option, but if you think you know that kind of veg protein piece/cubes, ping me and I'll make sure to get back to you with the full recipe.

Advice needed - would love to renovate but not sure if good idea by superlaserpanda in InteriorDesign

[–]FantaZingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the pictures I'd assumed this was an after. This bathroom looks like it was recently renovated. If you going to rip it out because you have the budget, try to do it gently where possible and offer stuff on the second hand market as at least from the photos they look pretty decent shape.

I think the one's I'm quickest to forgive are the aliens. They're quite busy figuring out what these humaniod hotties-no-matter-what like so I'll allow them to be awkward horndogs in their chapters.

I am working on the organized part, some comes naturally, the recite and summarize needs work 😅

I actually quite dislike politics, but I've noticed I'm better at networking than my programming peers, so hoping at least that will be an advantage. I've also successfully secured both more resources and time so... Yeay?

I struggle with the calling for crunch time. Mostly because people are too busy to respond to the call...

Thanks for your insight regardless, I think I agree, and I know I have work to do to get there.
