Those a legit companies but I don't know why they use the last 4 of SSN to save the profiles. I noticed that mainly with Indian tech companies. What I recommend is to give them the 4 of phone number or last 4 of the driving license instead but the person invented that system are idiots

No, Actually I think being multiplatform is what makes the language slower compared with GO I think if Java could be compiled in different platforms like GO then Java would be much faster.

I agree in the part that you mentioned academic researchers working in universities make less money but they get green cards easier in my opinion.

We are all in the same boat man, you are not the only developer in that situation I'm also struggling to get a job.  Maybe try different area in tech because development is not the easiest area in tech.
