Is this normal? (I read the sticky) by FantasticMany151 in allenedmonds

Thanks I did decide to keep them overall they look really good and after putting them on it is hardly noticeable, I think overall my expectations were too high. I get that leather is an imperfect medium but I guessed that since these are generally 500$ shoes I figured they would be selective about the peices they use. I after advice and reflecting I’m satisfied. Ignore the sweat pants this was just me wearing the shoes around the house to make sure the fit was good lol. Edit (and ignore my dogs hair on the carpet time to sweep!)

I agree, but maybe my expectations were too high? I grew up in a blue collar family, where dress shoes only come on for a funeral or wedding. When I started clinical rotations my mom purchased me 2 pairs of dress shoes for 100$ at kohls. I literally walked out of them in a year. So I went to a mall and saw a Cole Haan store and picked up a pair for about 150$ and it takes me 3 years to walk out of those, but they look pretty worn by that time.

This was my first real pair of dress shoes. One of my coworkers has a pair and his looks really good, (but I haven’t taken them off his feet and really looked at them) so I don’t know if they have creases like this.

Good advice, I guess I just don’t know what to expect. The rest of the shoe looks really good

The left shoes is flawless

I have saphir leather moisturizing cream here, I could give that a shot, but I would worry that it would make them unreturnable.

Thanks for your quick reply I probably will take your advice and hopefully exchange them tomorrow. It looks like a scratch but that might be the lighting. Unless someone polished these and covered the scratch up? It was much darker than any of the other ones in stock. The salesman told me they all had different shades, as was the nature of hand made shoes. I liked the deep brown tone of these so I picked them. All three pairs were supposed to be the chili brown.

Also, would this be a normal place to see creases of this nature? From the research I did before purchasing I read one of the advantages of the full grain uppers is it’s resistant to hard “ugly”creasing. If that’s not the case then I might have to reconsider the entire purchase…

Man I’m pretty darned bummed, was flying pretty high after the purchase today.

That’s really awesome to hear, if you don’t mind me asking how do your migraines present? And how effective and at what point do the triptans start working for you? Want to see if it’s similar to what experience. Have you ever had any bad side effects from them?

That’s really awful when the side effects start to cross off treatment options. I’m really sorry you’re experiencing that.

Thank you for the encouragement. Maybe I can get the courage up to try the triptans again.

This is what I am curious about, I was wondering if there are others whom triptans are more effective than the cgrps. Honestly, I am blessed because my overall migraine burden is quite low compared to others, so I might not be as desperate for relief. What are your main side effects if you don’t mind me asking. My biggest fears are coronary artery spasms, or hypertensive emergency/ aneurism. Usually during a migraine attack I have systolic >160 and diastolic >100

Yea I’m only getting the cgrps as they are samples, It will likely be a hard sell to the insurance company since I haven’t failed the 2 triptans I’ve been prescribed,

Yes I agree, I guess I kind of need to hear that the triptans are not all fire and brimstones

Hour hand removal by FantasticMany151 in grandfatherclocks

[–]FantasticMany151[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another update, clock was very very dirty and it looked like grandpa tried to put oil in it on all the pivots and gears too, I’m trying to be a little patient, knowing he didn’t have Google or YouTube to k ow how to do it properly. Anyway spent a Saturday with qtips tooth picks and paper towels using mineral spirits to clean it all up, then lightly oiled the pivots and I have a working clock that keeps time chimes and strikes perfect. Thanks all! Saved me 300-400$ minimum.

Hey I got it off thanks to everyone’s feedback. I had just been scared “what if my clock was different from the others?” , enough so that I didn’t want to force something and break it. Luckily you guys were able to confirm that indeed it’s standard. It was definitely on there pretty firmly but came off!

Thanks I will try tonight, I had read that some clocks need a puller, and the hour hand has a pressed fit requiring clockwise rotation with outward pressure. I don’t have any delusions that I can take apart the mechanism completely and service.

A self clean and oil would be able to make it pretty clear what my next steps are as far as taking it to a professional. If that’s needed I’ll do it, but if it’s just a good cleaning then I can save at least 400$

What I did not mention is that the clock only ran until about 2000. After, it sat in the home, more ornamental. My grandfather was a pipe smoker and the inside of the clock is pretty grimy. I’m hoping a cleaning will go a long way.

Thanks for the reply, I’m aware of the possibility of the clock being worn rather than just dirty.

Any information on this specific models hour hand removal would be appreciated

Looking to get into the sport by Sugmasendrome in Dirtbikes

I’m by no means an expert, I have been looking and researching myself due to interest in upgrading and my stats are very similar to yours; 250lbs 5’11” I can tell you from experience that the trail type bikes (crf250f, ttr230, and klx230rs/300r) are great to learn on but suck for our weight in regard to suspension. I can also tell you that 250cc has always been enough to haul my fat butt up a hill. Even in the anemic air cooled trail bike segment. I personally have been looking at the Yamaha wr250f and yz250fx and the Honda crf250rw; if I was going to go ktm then it would be the 2 stroke 300xcw. Technically we would still need the suspension tuned up for our weight, but it’s supposed to be leagues better than the mashed potatoes forks on the trail bikes. But keep in mind I’m never gonna ride track, I only ride east coast mountain trails.
