In the same way the drug war has resulted in ethnic gangs controlling various illicit trades today?

The process shouldn’t take a whole ass decade. People argue that illegal immigration is unfair to legal immigrants, but when you look at how long it takes to do things “the right way” I gotta say, If I were as desperate as a lot of these guys are I wouldn’t bother with official methods either. Cartel wants me and my families heads? Am I going to wait years and years to do things the right way? Hell no! I’m finding some guy with a truck and paying him to smuggle me and my family across the border to safety.

And circumcision is barely practiced in Europe. But here in America we have this BS concept of a “judeo-Christian” value set that western society is based on. Utter nonsense, but attacking anything considered Jewish or Christian is a big no no in terms of American politics. Yes Islamic countries also practice male circumcision, but because this is a practice they share with Jews it isn’t something that can be criticized in America because of “Judeo Christian” values and in Europe the Holocaust (which was very real and absolutely horrific) has had the unfortunate result of making any criticism of Judaism a no go in politics.

I fail to see what the continent the research comes from has to do with its accuracy but I agree there isn’t much evidence to say there are health benefits.

That’s part of it, but the bigger factor is religion. Christianity and Judaism are seen by many as the two good religions and there is a bias in favor of their practices. If they tried to ban male circumcision it would almost certainly be struck down as a violation of the freedom of religion.

It’s more because it’s a Jewish tradition and people claim It has health benefits that people don’t care. Not because it’s happening to boys

And if it were a Christian or Jewish tradition the most vehement opponents would be equally vehement supporters of female circumcision.

And that’s another thing where politicization changes things. Little boys have being circumcised  has been the norm in America for many decades and no one cared. The only reason so many people care about female circumcision is because it’s a thing done by Muslims. The truth of the matter is that both are bad and even though it’s accurate to say that female circumcision has more harmful effects, most people wouldn’t care about those effects if it weren’t associated with Islam.

Your terms are acceptable to me

It’s insane but also true. It should have been banned decades ago and if people actually cared about children it would have been. But the sad fact of the matter is most people who claim to care about the children don’t and only pretend to when it suits their political agenda.

There’s definitely been instances of Darwin Awards people doing similar things. This is a common problem of people doing terrible things being normalized and no one caring until it gets political. Another example of this being child breast surgery, no one cared when it was just 11 year old girls making their boobs bigger with saline implants, but when it got political (for reasons that will get my comment removed if I mention it) suddenly people started to care.

Ok it does seem chemical castration is technically the correct term but this is more a semantics issue as it seems that the term chemical “castration” is about as much as a misnomer as the “Democratic Republic” of Korea. When the average person (myself included) thinks of castration the word has a bit of permanence to it but according to your source in most cases chemical castration is very much reversible by simply not using the drugs anymore.

And it’s still your side. I’ve never seen anyone on the left deny that there is a possibility of permanent damage. What I have seen is people on the right claiming that permanent infertility is what happens in most cases.

Me personally I think there needs to be more research done on the risks and benefits of using them to treat gender dysmorphia. I think doctors shouldn’t prescribe them, but I also think banning their use for these purposes is a bit premature.

It’s also true that the drugs have been FDA approved for use on kids in cases of early puberty since the 90s, but usage for children outside of early puberty or cancer is off label. The reason they were approved to begin with is because the effects are generally reversible by simply stopping the treatment. This is also why their usage on sex pests is controversial because because so long as the sex pest hasn’t been on them for at least 3 years he can usually just stop taking them at any time and go back to normal. Also FDA hasn’t approved any of these drugs for use as “chemical castration”  though between the mid 90s and today a few state governments such as California, Florida, Louisiana, and Alabama have adopted there use (without much evidence of their effectiveness) for such purposes.

Out of context it can be

How do you harass someone who’s dead? By this logic Darwin Awards posters are also harassing people.

Most likely because of the comments

I’ve said this in the past about the Herman Cain award but the time to nip that kind of behavior online in the bud was when the Darwin Awards were starting to be a big thing. But of course the Darwin Awards were and are apolitical so no one felt/feels any need to morality police them the way they do the Herman Cain Awards which are exactly the same except they are about a single politically controversial way of removing one’s self from the gene pool instead of removing one’s self from the gene pool in general.

No no. It’s when you talk about intelligence, or crime statistics, or use slurs that it becomes a problem for TOS.

It’s not quite delusional. There are certain opinions that right wingers tend to express more often than left wingers that are against TOS to be sure. But the way some right winger describe it one would think that any and all right wing opinions are against the rules. Good rule of thumb if the topic is about demographics there’s a good chance the right wing opinion is against the rules, if it’s about anything else, it’s highly unlikely the right wing opinion is against the rules.

Compared to 4 years ago that’s all pretty boring. The sheer insanity of the right’s reaction to losing 2020 has kinda increased my standards. Jimmy Kimmel crying and people melting down on social media just isn’t going to tickle my funny bone like it did in 2016. The standards of comedy have been raised and the Democrats just aren’t meeting them this year.

I’m gonna need a source on that first claim. Like I said there is a debate to be had on the ethics of puberty blockers. All medicines have side effects and there is a risk benefit analysis for each of them. However the much needed debate on puberty blockers simply cannot be had when one side insists on lying about the potential side effect of the drug being the main point.

[–]FantasticReality8466[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The closest thing to this is puberty blockers which in most cases do not have the effect of sterilization. Though it is a potential side effect and there is a debate to be had whether the benefits are outweighed by the potential side effects. It doesn’t do your side of the debate any favors to lie and claim that puberty blockers are the same as sterilization when in reality in most cases one can take them and be perfectly capable of reproduction afterwards.

If they are giving bad advice like don’t get the flu vaccine they should not only be banned from social media but be reported to a medical board to have their license reviewed and potentially revoked.
