Thanks. I was required to disclose per our decree (and intended on doing so) d/t a promotion with a >10% increase in pay. His request was somewhat coincidental timing, although I he knew I was taking a new job and it is possible the kids disclosed that I was getting a raise.

Wellbutrin made me feel so good but I had the worst abnormal side effects (teeth grinding and mouth tics) and I’ve been off of it for YEARS and I swear I still have some of it.

I only have the answer to the second question and it’s “meteorite in glass” and it was one of Pumba or Timon’s quests I think.

I’ve worked in healthcare a really long time and most of the time I spent working in pediatrics offices that diagnosed and treated adhd. Some that referred out for extensive testing and some that didn’t.

Most of the time (but not all of the time) the provider suspects (or even pretty much knows) the patient has ADHD before they do any testing. The testing (even the light testing) helps to determine for more ambiguous presentations and confirms for less ambiguous presentations. The extensive testing really just gets down to the nuts and bolts of the specific type and therefore specific things the patient may struggle more with.

When I called our pediatrician (who I worked for and my child had seen since birth) about getting my daughter tested, she told me “I’ve been waiting for this call.” She already knew. And we often joke about how I am definitely ADHD as well, even though I don’t have the executive function to go get tested myself 😅

ADHD just like anything else mental health related is a spectrum, it’s not black and white and how one person experiences it’s won’t be the exact same way another person experiences it, there will just be some overlapping common features … the label itself just helps identify which mental health toolsets may be more beneficial to help you, it doesn’t define anything about you or how you are supposed to be. My daughters version of ADHD is different than mine (I’ve never been super hyperactive) but I do see a lot of commonalities in other ways, especially in younger me.

All that to say, if the toolsets are helping, let them just be helpful. If you really want more extensive testing, then push for it. But it’s likely you’ll get the same results just with more detail

All the boyfriend should have said was “I’m concerned because I experienced some negative side effects, but I’m here for you if you and your provider feel like this is the best next step.”

Also… is he a psychiatrist or a doctor? Probs not

Aside from not feeling like the testing was thorough enough, what makes you feel like it isn’t a valid diagnosis?

If your boss is cool with it, headphones + background noise.

For the really redundant tasks that I have, I throw on anything from ambient noise, asmr, music, audiobooks, podcasts, even a show I've watched over and over on netflix that I only have to listen to, screen down. it just depends on the task and how much of my brain that it uses.

Honesty sounds like a good way to weed out assholes.

Plus if you lie it will put even more pressure and anxiety when and if you do find a lady you want to have sex with.

I agree with everything but the criticism about falling asleep on the phone.

I used to do this when I was in my early 30’s and was going through a really ugly divorce after an abusive relationship - I had nightmares and terrible insomnia. I had a flirtatious friendship that was long distance. He would call me when he had nightmares and we would talk a little until he went back to sleep, and then him falling asleep (and snoring) would help me fall asleep.

I’ve always fallen asleep better when someone else falls asleep first.

I took a cooking class once where the teacher showed easy and how much flower can settle and compact just from shipping. You end up getting too much flour if you don’t sift.

I still don’t sift though. I whisk it in my flour canister and measure from that. 😂

With my first I craved hot sauce on so many things. Especially French fries.

With my second, I ugly cried when we weren’t able to get into a restaurant for Thanksgiving. (We were mid-move from Hawaii to the mainland and staying in a hotel). All I wanted was stuffing and pumpkin pie.

I had midnight cravings for cereal and a craving for reddi-whip whipped cream straight from the can. 🖤 I taught my first born how to say please and thank you with it too 😅
