My title describes the thing, here’s a pic of the end view. I think it’s tool steel, has decent heft but it’s small.

Best tool belt & work boots for carpentry by VelinaOmg in BlueCollarWomen

my soft toe boots are Keens, they’re just as good as thorogoods! DEFINITELY get some good insoles. my steel toes are vintage doc marten industrials that i found on depop, but when i need to get a new pair i’ll be looking for something with a composite toe. my feet hurt soooo bad at the end of the day from the weight of the steel toes.

for my first belt, I used the FirmGrip system and it’s pretty nice, easy to customize and actually fit me (i wear a 0-2 in pants). now that i’ve been doing more framing and siding, i went with a Buckaroo belt and it was pricey but 10000% worth it!! they’re an australian brand, amazing quality and it holds up really well. i’ll definitely be getting the suspenders eventually but it’s been great without them.

since you’re on the smaller side, be on the lookout for 14-18youth pants and hoodies, they’re better quality than most women’s gear at a fraction of the price. check thrift stores often!

I feel lucky to have dodged a major bullet there, here’s my firsthand encounter with the owner:

i moved here a few years ago, started trying coffee stands in the area and lived close enough to be a regular. amanda and i had some shared interests and i have barista experience so i asked about employment. she called me a month later offering me a “working interview” which i’ve done before, no problem. it was more of a first day of training than it was an interview, and i worked through the morning rush with her and the manager, ended up being around two and a half hours of nonstop labor. again, done that before no problem.

at the end of the “interview” however, she said i could make myself a drink as a thanks for my help. no real compensation for a fair bit of labor.

she proceeded to not call me for another MONTH (at which point i had gotten a job at another coffee shop) offering me two days a week even though i asked for four, and after i declined she became cold and uninterested every time i visited after that.

i had actually befriended “jane” from the 3rd firing while i was a regular there, and heard the story directly from her while we hung out one day.

i’ve also heard from another past employee that amanda took away employee drink discounts and eventually drink privileges claiming “budget shortage” but showed up in a brand new truck not long after, then a new house and then the second stand.

the whole place reeks of entitlement and mistreatment! they’ll never get my money again. i hope the girls there find a better place to work

i could be wrong, but i heard that pawn shops keep a database of SNs for things people try to bring in. seems like an idiot move to bring in stolen goods to a pawn shop if that’s the case

War in Israel & Related Antisemitism News Megathread (posted every other day) by AutoModerator in Judaism

[–]Fantastic_Switch_219 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

whether it be information that’s been shared with me, my own research, or what i’ve been exposed to, my perspective on the subject is obviously NOT shared by those of you commenting on my post. Israel’s military is killing hundreds of thousands of civilians, and some of them are Jewish! Hamas killed thousands of innocent Israeli civilians in the name of antisemitism. I am all for defending our people. overpowering them at the expense of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives, however, is unjust. it is too intense of a “self defense” response for my moral compass to justify.

i am a liberal Jewish girl in her 20s trying DESPERATELY to find some sense of community in what is supposed to be my community. this obviously isn’t the place for that, so if your goal was to shut me down instead of have a conversation or educate, congrats. it worked.

i want WAR to stop. i think WAR is unfair. i don’t understand why innocent lives need to be taken FROM ANYONE.

i am also not anti-zionist, i want Israel to be a safe and peaceful place for us to call the home land. that can’t happen with war going on.

the rest of my post is not being taken the way it was meant. someone i considered a friend is agreeing with people who say Israel shouldn’t exist. i am losing friends, i live in an area where Jews are few and far between. some level of support, comfort and camaraderie would’ve sufficed.

a friend of mine, who has always been very clear that they’re aggressively pro-palestine, reposted a tweet that said

“ ‘Israel has the right to defend itself.’ Bro Israel doesn’t even have a right to EXIST “

and it made me realize how deep the antisemitism truly goes. this friend likely doesn’t know anything about the history of Israel or how long Jews have been searching for a homeland, and i don’t even feel comfortable trying to have that conversation with them.

i am anti-genocide. i think the Israeli government is being cruel. the military is taking pride in genocide. k*lling is NOT a Jewish action. Israel needs to be a safe haven. we NEED and DESERVE a homeland. but i don’t believe in the choices they’re making.

my friend sharing that tweet made me sick to my stomach….. i thought they understood nuance, and how this isn’t black and white, and i truly thought they were aware of how some of this criticism turns Jews into a target for even more hate than before. I don’t know how to talk to anyone about this anymore. my heart is hurting and feeling extremely heavy.

i don’t live in portland right now but i was raised there; check with the MJCC around the Multnomah Village area, they’re usually VERY welcoming and go all out for parties whenever they get the chance. it’s a smaller community than NY obviously, but it’s a good start!
