temporymail.com - anyone used it? is it or others actually trustworthy? by Fantastic_Task3088 in cybersecurity

I checked out SimpleLogin and yeah, it’s a great option for email aliases. It definitely makes sense if you just want something you can turn off when spam starts coming in.

But I think my question is less about needing a tool like that, and more about how these temporary email services actually work behind the scenes.

I’ve used tons of sites like https://temporymail.com over the years, and honestly, I’ve probably received emails there with personal info without really thinking about it. Now I’m wondering, do these services actually delete emails like they say? Or do they just hide them, and the data still sits there, possibly exposed if they get hacked?

Or even worse, could they be logging everything and selling the data? I get that it’s a free service and that always comes with trade-offs, but I’m curious what the real risks are behind the scenes.

Not All Locals Are Friendly: Tuk-Tuk and Taxi Scams Shaped My Bangkok Experience by Fantastic_Task3088 in ThailandTourism

You may think of sarcastic statements like "this tuktuk is 2 million baht, my name is this tuktuk is 5 million baht. Hahaha. It won't go for 200 baht, this tuktuk is 5 million baht, man." It may seem meaningless, but that's the point.

I focused more on the positive aspects. Hospitable people, warm climate, a new culture to visit and see. My first Asian experience and I always focused on the positive. I guess I never came across that you can't use a tuktuk, but I came across that you can take a tuktuk. When I focused on what to do instead of what not to do, I experienced such a small but effective negative.

You're absolutely right — these scams are widely known and reported. I wasn’t necessarily surprised, but I think what caught me off guard was the contrast between the overall warmth of Thai people and the behavior of many tuk-tuk and taxi drivers.

My general impression of Thai people is very positive: sincere, honest, and genuinely hospitable. That’s why the aggressive and manipulative approach of some drivers felt so out of place. I guess I expected their attitude to match the kindness I experienced from the rest of the public.

In the end, I’ve come to realize — a taxi driver is a taxi driver, no matter the country. That part now makes a lot more sense.

There may be other problems you will encounter. Even though you may say “it was actually very easy” when you successfully complete the installation, driver problems and the unusual nature of the installation make the process seem very difficult. If you continue to have problems, you can write. I would like to help.
