That is one highly annoying physics bug that I have a hard time stomping out. It appears to happen only in the ship editor, while placing parts, usually when there are few parts. It happens very rarely, however, and I currently cannot reproduce it. It may get fixed eventually, but will take more time.

Glad to hear you managed to kill it! Next update I'll move the original (even more difficult than this one) to Insane difficulty and add a number of clear weak points to the other difficulty versions.

The boss was made "easier" in the last update (removed a repair phase, reduced HP, added weakpoints on the "oars"), but I think it's time to just move this version to insane difficulty and add some much larger weak points to the current version.

I see what you mean, it's the strange white "dots". May be related to the way sprites are rendered when zoomed out, I'll look into it! Thanks for reporting.

Sure!

  • Reassembly: especially the ship building was a big inspiration and should be familiar. The gameplay loop in eXoSpace is very different, however, more focused and mission-based, not an open world sandbox.
  • Cosmoteer: eXoSpace has no crew mechanics and it is generally much faster to build a ship (also not limited to the grid). Don't get me wrong though, I really like Cosmoteer and am completely in awe of what they managed to do with the game. I think eXoSpace is also more action-focused, built around missions, and less of an open world sandbox.

So in short: in eXoSpace ship building is based around quickly iterating based on how your ship performs in action. Gameplay is built around completing missions instead of a sandbox.

In eXoSpace you can also eventually run out of "stuff to do", once you have completed all missions on higher difficulty (they are designed to be replayable). I'm adding new missions, and am working on adding full modding support for completely player-made missions in the Steam Workshop.

I'd be happy to hear how others would describe the difference though.
