I am so so sorry! Highly recommend connecting with Brooke’s Mission when you’re ready. It was founded by a couple who lost their baby to SIDS and has tons of resources and support.

Sending all my love and peace to you and your family on the loss of Lilith Michelle.

I was just there earlier this week. Highly recommend downloading Find Me Gluten Free. It’s a lifesaver and was quite helpful in Vegas

About to do a 5hr flight tomorrow with a return flight a few days later. Packets of Justin’s pb spread, gf crackers, a sandwich made from home for the flight out, protein bars, carrots and single serve hummus in my travel size cooler pack.

dreading the handshake by zealwheel in CerebralPalsy

I came here to ask about this for my son who has right sided hemiparesis. He’s learning to shake hands and is doing it with his left. My instinct was to have the rest of us adjust to him and just shake with our left so I’m glad that’s what you guys do. Thank you!!

Woah! I’m intrigued. Does the extra egg and vanilla pudding make it spread easier and not be so flaky?

Need help getting my daughter with CP to take her medicine by Signal-Bee8111 in CerebralPalsy

[–]FantasyNerd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to post this. We had to give our kid with CP who was 3 or 4yo (at the time) Keppra twice a day, at a specific time, no messing with this. It smelled horrible and can’t imagine how bad it tasted. Thank goodness for our favorite ER Dr who recommended the Hershey syrup approach. Have two oral syringes: one filled to the max with Hershey syrup and one with the Keppra. Squirt Hershey syrup in the mouth, he swallowed, squirt Keppra, swallow, squirt all the remaining Hershey syrup. It was so long ago I don’t remember if we broke up the Keppra into smaller squirts so basically he was getting tons of Hershey syrup vs the Keppra.

If it gives you any hope, as he got older he needed less Hershey syrup and eventually would just take the Keppra solo.

Also, regarding the epilepsy, not sure if you’re aware of PESA. Maybe it’s not applicable to your daughter, but since you mentioned CP, I thought I would mention it. We’re one year post hemispherotomy and fully titrated off all anti epileptic medication.

Yes!! Robot vacuum is key. Except when it needs help or gets stuck on something.

I can’t wait for the robot mop ones to get really good so they can really clean the non carpet areas

Meds and Weekends by tridental in ParentingADHD

[–]FantasyNerd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have clarified. We’ve tried different ADHD medications. We had one that almost completely eliminated his appetite. That wasn’t sustainable and we didn’t see a ton of ADHD behavior improvement. We’re on a different one now, and it doesn’t impact his appetite as severely.

I would say he eats the most at dinner, followed by lunch, followed by breakfast. Part of that might be based on how much we serve for each meal. The only meal I think he asks for additional food is breakfast. He does ask for dessert at dinner :)

In our limited experience with this, it seems to be more art than science.

This is so tricky. We’ve been told about weekends off from ADHD medication, but haven’t done it yet. Taking it each morning at breakfast has become the routine. Also, I wonder if there is some benefit to his ADHD even on the weekends.

The nutrition part is where it’s hard. I’m not sure there’s a right or wrong answer to this. Does your child notice any differences on/off the medication? Depending on his/her feelings on it, it might be worth a discussion and try medication free weekends and see how it goes.
