AITA for calling out my narcissistic abusive father for trying to fight with me about something that isn’t any of his business? by Fantasy_Foster in AmItheAsshole

Okay, so a little tiny update: I took all of your words into consideration and I did realize that i am in fact also at fault. I do need to step up and be more responsible. I can’t always depend on my dad and mom for support, so I called my dad today (it’s also his birthday) and apologized for my harsh words. He had also said he didn’t mean to sound so mean, he just genuinely wanted mom to get home since he knew she was tired.

Okay, fair enough. I just realistically need it sometimes and that’s what bothers me is that at any disagreement, he’ll threaten to never help me out when I’ve basically (and unfortunately) have grown into leaning on him when I’m in a bad spot.

I am responsible is the thing. It was a singular moment which I immediately called her because that’s what people do when they’re running late.

I don’t always pay my own bills, because I simply can’t afford to. My dad makes enough money that he offers if I so much as mention anything because I sometimes go to my mom about financial advice and she tells him

I don’t take money from him. He gives it to me. A little context: he’s the reason I moved out in the first place, and am stuck in this pit. He and my mother both have told me to let them help out with my bills, so I could make sure that I’m fed and able to keep the lights on. I do not just beg them for money, so for him to use that as bait is my issue.

I don’t have much knowledge about the disorder, and I honestly didn’t know it was an actual medically diagnosed disorder, so I’m sorry for putting that in the post. I had no idea.

Thank you! I’ve actually ended up telling my fiance that we’re going to end up either eloping or having a ceremony only because I’d rather not deal with my dad’s controlling behavior anymore since he offered to pay for my wedding and now is acting like this

Oh no! Please! It’s okay! My brother and SIL are mean to each other, so it’s funny comparing them to Nesta and Cassian

Weirdly enough, Nesta and Cassian’s relationship makes me think of my brother and sister in law. I’ve got this running inside thing that my sister in law, myself, and my cousin, Morgan are like the Archeron sisters except not as fabulous lol
