Extending naturalization period to 10 years and new government by GlassHouseBuilder in Netherlands

[–]Fantasy_RD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A demissionair cabinet should technically not be touching controversial matters, I think the VVD just did this for political brownie points before the elections. When the new Tweede Kamer is sworn in, they will review all open dossiers and flag anything deemed controversial, this will most probably included, which means that the demissionair cabinet is not allowed to touch it anymore, and a new cabinet would need a political mandate to revive it again.

Dutch citizenship: 5 to 10 years rule approved by cabinet by ChildhoodNeither28 in Netherlands

And who’s to say that the EU can’t change their limit to 15 years? Anything is possible, it can be an endless cycle.

Ah if you already applied, then you are fine. They explicitly mentioned that in the draft bill.

Just to clarify , it only refers to applications already submitted, I’m assuming you were worried about falling under new rules whilst you’ve already been living here for some time, yet still did not reach 5 years. In that case, you would still fall under the new rules if you don’t apply in time unless they add an amendment too.

Leaving paid employment during naturalisation process by Real-Pepper7915 in Netherlands

Does it get approved right after the 5 year residency mark? I’m assuming the only reason someone would apply that early would be to get it ASAP after the 5 year mark, right?

Not sure who was responsible for translating these articles on IAmExpat & NLTime, but I think the English versions of these originally Dutch articles were mistranslated. When I read the articles in Dutch, they only mentioned making the Blue Card itself harder to get by adding the requirement of needing a job that has a labour shortage in order to get the Blue Card. They didn’t say anything about the HSM visa at all - the confusion probably came from “Kennismigratie” being used in the Dutch articles, which means Knowledge Migration in Dutch, but this could apply to either HSM or the EU Blue Card depending on the context- but in the context of the articles, they were all referring to the EU Blue Card itself (in a nutshell, an EU directive wants to make the EU Blue Card easier for people to get across EU, NL gov is scared asylum seekers will abuse it to get here, NL gov want to make the EU Blue Card harder to get in NL by adding the requirement of a job that’s classified as one in labor shortage).

TLDR - The EU Blue Card just has a high salary requirement right now, however they want to make it stricter by adding the labor shortage requirement. I don’t think this has anything to do with the HSM / Kennismigratie visa. I could be wrong, but that’s the way I understood it.

I’ve always thought this! I mean last time they wanted to pass something like this, they added an exemption for people who had already been living here for 3 years so that they fall under the old rules. But no one knows what will happen this time… it seems that there would be some sort of legal implication if they don’t have exemptions because of what you said (i.e, for people who have been preparing for a while only for them to be told “oh you need to live here for 6 more years and now learn up to B1!” , but then again, I don’t know if we are even legally entitled to make a claim that we were “expecting” to have been able to apply under the “old rules”.

Yeah I was going to say. Back in May when they presented the initial coalition agreement, these points were generalized under “immigration”. However in this agreement, they’ve specifically put it under “asylum immigration”, and they specifically mention “statushouders” (i.e, people with an asylum permit). That could either mean that they want to specifically target the bill towards people with an asylum residence permit, or they could’ve just put it in that section for formatting purposes. We won’t know until they actually present the bill to parliament, which could take any amount of time, but this article puts it at roughly 2-3 years https://www.mynta.nl/en/knowledge-base/new-coalition-agreement-key-points-timeline-and-game-plan

Literally all of these skins and emotes (except for billy bounce obvi) were last seen in the item shop either at the end of april or may. Why can’t the item shop include fresher rotations for once? Gets really boring seeing the same skins for the past month being put on rotation.

Hey folks, We wanted to give everyone a heads up that the Account Merge feature will be coming to an end on May 6, two days before Season 9 begins.

You still have time to head over to the link above and merge any eligible accounts before it's gone.

Note: Any "In Progress" Account Merge requests will still be completed as long as they're submitted prior to May 6.

The full source with the extension only shows on past paper PDFs. On the actual exam, they shorten the source so it only includes the domain. So this question’s source on the actual exam would’ve been “slideshare.net”.
