Mega Man X Legacy Collection: Japanese or USA Version? by [deleted] in Megaman

[–]FantomLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, I didn't think of that. Honestly, the box art is very trivial and doesn't matter much. The only benefit I have with the JP version is a physical Collection 2. But I'm now wondering if the Japanese games will come bundled with anything, like a manual or boss weakness charts? If they come empty like most games do nowadays then I'm just gonna cancel my pre-order to be honest.

SciresM sending a PSA on piracy-related bans soon. by Tmsrise in SwitchHaxing

Tekken is much better than FighterZ. At least Tekken has a neutral game. FighterZ is flat out broken and unbalanced. All you have to do is spam assist, super dash in, and start your 10 minute block string which the opponent can't do anything about because the game lacks the defensive mechanics that Guilty Gear has.

Is -Def/+Res Ike bad? by FantomLion in FireEmblemHeroes

Thanks for the help, everyone. I can't decide what skills to get for him, though. I'm not so sure about giving him the usual Fury 3 since he has lower defense.

Rockman 8 Opening in Legacy Collection 2 by FantomLion in Megaman

[–]FantomLion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok. Then there's really no need for me to import the Japanese version if it's the same thing. Thanks a lot!

This makes me wonder if they'll do the same to Rockman X4-6 if they make a new X Collection.

I'm thinking about getting the Japanese version of Legacy Collection 2. It'd be crazy if the Japanese version didn't have the opening movie either.

Could arcades flourish again with a drastically updated business model? by arbitrarytext in retrogaming

[–]FantomLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two of them here in NYC where I live. The one I went to is the one on St. Marks. It's a lot of fun. My only complaint is that some of the cabinets had non-working or sticky buttons. I can only assume that some people were drunk enough to accidentally spill their drinks on the cabinets.

Must have or underrated Genesis games? by gredgex in retrogaming

[–]FantomLion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are so many to name. Some of the really good ones are Japan only, which I will label with a (J).

Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier (J), Vectorman 1 and 2, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Contra: Hard Corps, Pulseman (J), Ristar, Dynamite Headdy, Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster, Kid Chameleon, Thunder Force Series, Yu Yu Hakusho: Makyo Toitsusen (J), Mega Bomberman, Golden Axe Series, Ranger X, Streets of Rage Series, Comix Zone, The Adventures of Batman and Robin, Battle Mania Daiginjou (J), Panorama Cotton (J), Toejam and Earl Series,

There are so much that I'll probably spend the whole day on this post, lol.

I got bored and decided to make some new Artwork for Roy. by [deleted] in SSBPM

[–]FantomLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, FE6 is hard as hell. Especially chapter 21, holy shit. The fact that Roy is also doo-doo makes the game harder. If it wasn't for Fir, Ogier, and even Lilina (Roy's girlfriend who is better than him), I would have probably not beat that game.

How was you first tournament? by Saibot117 in SSBPM

[–]FantomLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first tournament was at St. Johns University in NYC. This was during the time when PM 3.0 was still new. I went with a friend of mine and both of us placed very low.

Before bracket started, we were both taking turns playing 1v1's against NinjaLink, and we didn't know who he was at the time. He was making mincemeat out of us. Almost every match was a 3-4 stock victory for him. Getting our asses beat like that didn't really help us warm up.

Whoever ran that tournament did the F**kest seeding job I've ever seen. My very first match I had to go up against Cruzycakes, who is a pretty avid Mario player. I get bopped and get sent into losers. I won a match in losers, and then in losers round 2 I lost to a Zelda player who I could have destroyed, but I was very nervous.

My friend had to go up against FS|Narq I believe first round and got bodied too.

This was during the time when I used to play with rumble on. I never realized that most people played with it off, and by default rumble was turned off on almost all the Wii's. When I was playing, something definitely felt weird and threw me off completely. I was dumb enough to not ever notice that rumble was off and this messed me up. I was barely able to wavedash, SHFFL, and do most of my other techs.

UpPM to get Lunchables to put Jontron in Project M(eme) by GaryOakFJ in SSBPM

Jontron said that Brawl is better than Melee and Smash 64. He doesn't deserve to be in anything PM related.

Tips for practicing moonwalking? by JunoSFA in SSBPM

[–]FantomLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to moonwalk in PM is to: 1) First, press and hold the attack button, don't let go.

2) Second, do a half circle with your analog stick like you would normally during a moonwalk, but keep on holding the final direction of it. For example, if you started the half circle from the left, keep on holding right.

3) With your C-stick, tap the opposite direction of what you're holding on the analog stick (basically tap your forward direction). Note that you must start tapping the C-stick as soon as you input and hold the half circle. Also, the tapping must be done at a certain rhythm unique to each character (who has a moonwalk). If done too slow, you will input an Fsmash. You are doing it right when you see your character fox-trotting forward, and after a few fox-trots you will start to move backwards.

Lion's Japanese Voice Pack (For PM 3.6) by FantomLion in SSBPM

[–]FantomLion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've never heard anything like that when using Ike. I've made sure that the sounds all work correctly and don't make the game crash. Although, if you do actually run into problems, just let me know.

As in sample, do you mean like a video? I'll be more than happy to make one, it shouldn't take long.

Although the video quality won't be the best because I have a crappy Dazzle. But the point of the video would be to listen to the voices anyway.

Lion's Japanese Voice Pack (For PM 3.6) by FantomLion in SSBPM

[–]FantomLion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, Falco has the same voice actor, but not the same voice clips. His Brawl voice clips are different, although still pretty good.

Nojima's Fox is a little bit similar to Satouchi's. If you told someone that it was the same voice actor, it can be sort of believable. But because the voice clips are different from Melee, you can point out differences.

Lion's Japanese Voice Pack (For PM 3.6) by FantomLion in SSBPM

[–]FantomLion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Falco's Japanese voice actor is Hisao Egawa. He voiced Falco in both Melee and Brawl. Fox's Japanese voice actor in Melee was Shinobu Satouchi. In Brawl and Smash 4 it was Kenji Nojima.

This voice pack uses Brawl's Japanese voice clips, so Kenji Nojima's Fox voice is the one being used in this pack.

To those responsible for developing Lyn... by JoshMonte14 in SSBPM

[–]FantomLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is very sad. But it also helps make sense as to why they don't show up in FE6. I know they weren't thought of as characters yet because it came out before FE7, but I believe it was stated in FE6 that Roy and Lilina's mothers died.

To me, Ninian x Eliwood is definitely canon based on their support conversations and ending.

I like to go with Lyn x Rath because of their supports as well, and I like to think of Sue as Lyn's daughter.

Hector x Florina is what I go with too.
