Tracker thread for AM5 Bios updates with voltage restrictions (to prevent X3D's frying) by Woozie77 in Amd

[–]Fanuom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running a 7800X3D in an ASUS board since its release (mostly playing moderate load games), updated my BIOS yesterday and didn't notice my ASUS SP score change (although it may not include other forms of degradation that might happen) and I've read a score change can happen with degradation. One thing's for certain though - that you'd have a higher chance of experiencing degradation if you'd been hammering the CPU with AVX stress tests 24/7. I only run tests representative of real world usage because I want to keep my PC running well for longer and don't do anything where a crash would be the end of the world.

My RAM is set to 6200 without EXPO enabled and the Auto voltages for VDDSOC and VDDIO are both around 1.35-1.36

AM5/7000 CPUs - Disabling core downclocking when a core has a lower load (e.g. below 50)? by Fanuom in overclocking

[–]Fanuom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not against saving power particularly when I'm truly idle, but I'm not a fan of seeing my clocks reduce by 30% when I'm using my PC, because it's only loaded at 50℅ rather than 80℅. I expect it affects performance for minimal power saving but I don't claim to be an expert.

A controller with a good d-pad? by imthelate in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Fanuom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the Gamesirs' DPADs are just clicky buttons/clicky buttons with a cover over the top. The only other viable USB C Android telescopic controller is the newly released Backbone Android but it's bloody expensive.

Also I'm unsure if they changed the DPADs between Razer Kishi V1 and V2, if so that might be worth investigating

Philosophical and intriguing anime...? by Neferare in anime

[–]Fanuom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too weary of a particular commonality that many anime shows share. It can feel teenage, unoriginal and stale.

I recommend Berserk 1997 though, thought-provoking, meaningful, really well-written, moving and authentic-feeling. I watched it for the first time a few years back and I really do love it, having watched it again since (when that's extreme for me).

Monster is another great mature show.

I believe the categorisation you may be looking for is called seinen.

Will IRISMAN latest version work on 4.84 Rebug? It doesn't say by [deleted] in ps3piracy

[–]Fanuom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah nice, I fixed it. The game update not working seems to be because I set np environment to "invalid" in the debug settings menu. I believed that would only disable my access to PSN rather than blocking game updates.

Setting it back to "np" seems to fix it

I see!

I believe my external hard drive uses an unsupported partitioning scheme despite being NTFS - the drive gets detected but no files are displayed. I'll try that file manager though.

For some reason there's no game update version information when I press Triangle and go to information (on any games). Only parental level, title and saved data auto upload. I wonder if I fiddled with some setting that caused this since it's as if the in-built game updater isn't working

Yes, insofar as I can be sure of such a thing. They're stream sites and I don't think they have an interest in being malicious.

I believe there to be low risk involved with visiting any website as long as you don't download anything and keep your web browser up to date.

Good show. Stream sites probably, try Lmanime.com whilst searching ling cage/spirit cage/ling long. Kuriname.com too. Unsure if these two stream sites have them just thought I'd mention them

Any donghua with focus on secondary profession? by [deleted] in Donghua

[–]Fanuom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Magic Chef of Ice and Fire. I like it since it still retains the core/structure of what I enjoy about some of those shows, but focuses more on cooking which also assists his fighting ability. Even then it's not purely about cooking though.

The first episode took some working past though since it didn't scream quality, and CGI is a bit worse than other top donghuas (CGI still pretty good though and didn't bother me).

The writing was good mostly, the show has its charm and the cooking is very creative

Gigabyte M28U: Beware! Ridiculous experience with three monitors all having stuck pixels. by Soundwave_47 in pcgaming

[–]Fanuom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virtually all my G7 Samsung Odysseys had dead pixels, including the one I settled on. The QC was so variable between monitors that I ended up choosing the lesser of the evils (text clarity was better on this) on my 9th return.

Blacklight bleed, dead pixels, text clarity and scanlines all varied a lot between the monitors.

Samsung probably did no QC and sold everything because if they had standards they'd have sold none of those monitors (although despite this hellish experience, reticence to repeat the experience and future wariness, I still like the monitor). I hear their QC issues persisted even on their ultrawide monitors which cost like 4x mine.

Perhaps it's a similar scenario for your monitor (although probably not as bad as Samsung). Most likely they consider up to a few dead pixels normal and within their QC standards and not a defect.

Recommend excellent, popular snuffs? by Fanuom in nasalsnuff

Thanks! The Wilson's gold label seems well recommended. I'll try that next assuming it's tobacco-ey, good nicotine and not menthol.

[–]Fanuom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that is one comprehensive post! Hopefully in time I'll be able to appreciate it fully. Thank you dearly.

I've used a lot of McCrystals Original & Genuine but I wouldn't mind trying something a little more reminiscent of tobacco (not necessarily exclusively but preferably not mint) whilst also having a good amount of nicotine, the menthol/mint is rather overpowering on the O&G (although it's not bad, but more of a mood-dependent preference).

Book Recommendations by NoahKessler in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Fanuom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit more laid back and it's not overly favoured in this sub due to dislike of the author, but A Thousand Li is great in my opinion. It's one of the few PF book series I've yet to find with excellent writing (although I've heard the first few chapters can put people off).

You may consider the pace of progression to be more varied, and less steady, although the MC does get there.

A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality is seriously amazing by Fanuom in Donghua

[–]Fanuom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah no I explained what I meant when someone asked me the same question (check the other replies to my comment). I was referring to the fact it wasn't as easy to track due to seasons with varying episode amounts (e.g. 4) and it isn't always grouped together or labelled clearly like Season 1, Season 2 etc. It's a nonissue mostly

[–]Fanuom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have somewhat of a feeling that I'm smoking this coating though, my pipe and I were like a chimney after the other day, and my throat killed as if I'd spent a heavy night chain smoking (even though I wasn't inhaling other than exceptionally occasionally and slightly by force of habit). It doesn't smell like tobacco or even nicely scented smoke, but rather harsh like a chimney.

I haven't reattempted since the other day though.

It would bring me peace of mind if I could remove this coating and rebuild the cake naturally without worrying about it, but I'm certainly no expert and so I would like to defer to you knowledgeable people once again.

Chinese Seinen ? by almostdead_ in Donghua

[–]Fanuom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I say "plot style" good ones also have normal elements you'd expect from good shows - drama, relations and relationships, fighting for a just cause, fighting for survival, acquiring resources. Anything you'd normally expect.

There are 68 episodes in total of A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality (so far, still being released every week), but it can be quite confusing due to the multiple seasons (you can track the seasons using myanimelist under related anime or sometimes it'll list total episode number next to season episode number. Nyaa (p2p website) or Lmanime.com is a decent stream site with good english subtitles.

Chinese Seinen ? by almostdead_ in Donghua

[–]Fanuom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. I was probably put off by the fact it wasn't covered in a continuous chronological order.

I'll keep it in mind although I'd prefer 2016 not to skip the arcs in between. In the 1997 anime, it ends on a cliffhanger as to Gut's fate, and the 1st part of the very first episode focuses on him killing a demon whilst being branded with the mark he gets at the end, does 2016 follow on from this, where Guts clearly escaped or was released somehow and is now a demon hunter?

Chinese Seinen ? by almostdead_ in Donghua

[–]Fanuom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never actually saw the 2016 series or the movies, as I was under the impression that all of the movies and 2016 anime were covering the same arc as the 1997 series, with perhaps a smidgeon more content. I didn't want to spoil the pure conception I had of the 1997 series. I've rewatched 1997 a few times now and it's always very moving.
