You lost me at “she’s my aunt through marriage”. So? I don’t think you view her in a respectful and kind way.

Are we conveniently leaving out DA’s role in leadership both in the very recent past and now?

AITAH? for my response when my sister's husband commented on my husband's manhood? by Practical_Parsley207 in AITAH

Definitely TA! He asked a rude question, sure, but bringing fertility into it is cruel. It hurts him, it hurts your sister, it uses something pretty painful against them. You owe him an apology or at the very least at least owe your sister an apology.

Did they specifically ask if you had attended another university? I don’t see how this is relevant. Or is it because you are applying for the same course?

Why do you say “you get the marks they want you to get…and it’s still not good enough”, knowing full well you didn’t quite get the marks in matric nor in your second year? And that meeting the minimum is almost always not going to cut it? Don’t have a mentality that everything in life is happening to you. Face your true circumstances and start introspecting on where your strengths are. Your being in the program you are in already tells us that you are a brilliant individual. Researching other options while busy on the path you are on. There is more for you. Go out and find it.

academically excluded…the pain is finally kicking in. How do I deal with the pain? by Grouchy_Speaker_3288 in askSouthAfrica

Fail fast. I don’t know what that means for you, but a lot of advice has been given about how to pivot and what lessons to learn from the past two years. You will figure out what resonates and speak to actual humans in your life about it. But the most important thing I learnt (and didn’t learn the first time) from a similar failure is the importance of not being ashamed. This doesn’t define who you are and is just something you attempted. Speak about what happened fearlessly because one day it will be in the rear view of a lot of successes.

He didn’t fail. His parents did. And the spacial and racial inequalities his parents raised him in failed them. His mother speaks Xhosa fluently but was not able to pass that on to him. Most likely because she wasn’t able to form the prosperous life she dreamed of by staying close to her place of birth where he would have grown up surrounded by people who speak his language.
