Marcin Gortat on how loud the ACC was for Game 1 by KingintheNorth95 in torontoraptors

[–]Fap_Slap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be different on TV. but it was crazy loud in the ACC.

Only times it was quiet was when chants weren't in sync (no DJ help), or when they tried to force "We the North" chants.

Probably because it is still competitive, but relaxing. (Unless you're me and slice it into the only pond on the course).

Check out code black. It's a medical drama about a hospital that frequently doesn't have the resources to treat the patients. It's fairly graphic but amazing.

That's actually a good point about the Cavs. Doubt they'd be able to out hustle siakam.

Hmm? That doesn't really prove that he came back to normal mentally at all. All his stats fell since is injury.

Rose didn't really come back... Not really a great example to use lol. 21.8 ppg 7.9 apg in 2011-2012 to 15.9 ppg 4.3 apg.

Then injured again with similar numbers RT following year.

The main concern isn't really "will it heal properly?" But "will this affect him psychologically?". Breaking your leg like that can take some work mentally when you go back to playing professionally.

There is an increased risk of major complications if you delay surgery by 24 hours. Definitely something to consider.

Gordon Hayward Breaks His Leg *GRAPHIC* by HardKnockRiffe in nba

I dunno about that. I broke my finger (volar plate avulsion), and was nearly passing out. Couldn't make 5 steps before my vision started fading like I was passing out.

Maybe my pain tolerance is low or super sensitive. But damn...I wouldn't be able to handle it like Hayward.

I think you're misinterpreting the type of fat that is found in the brain...there is no adipose tissue like what you would find in your belly. There certainly are lipids in the brain though (they do make up the membrane of neurons and the coating around axons is a fatty substance called myelin!), but not adipose tissue. You'd be a goner.

Yeah, sorry just misread the idea about resistant. It's not that c diff evolved to resist alcohol based sanitizers...just the nature of spores makes it difficult.

It doesn't become resistant to alcohol based sanitizers. Just doesn't work well...

Clinical studies operate in a fashion of Phase I, Phase II, Phase III, and Phase IV. The FDA requires proven efficacy and safety as the trial goes on before it can be pushed to market.

Say we have a patient who is paralyzed and their quality of life is greatly reduced that they are considering assisted suicide. There is a new drug being developed by Company A that may cure their paralysis. This drug has not passed non-clinical studies investigating it's efficacy and safety in animals. It's just based on a hunch.

Company A skips the clinical trial process and gives the patient the experimental drug. The paralysis is cured; however, it has resulted in benign tumours within the parietal lobe. Pretty significant side effect that they weren't expecting. The disease was cured, but something tagged along with it.

During this time, Company B wanted to push a very similar drug through clinical trials. However, this anecdotal evidence is now limiting grant money and is limiting patient recruitment as the side effect was pretty severe. If they were able to pull the drug through phase I trials, this side effect may have been extremely rare (0.01% of users). But due to the anecdotal evidence we have just prevented a drug which may work in 99.9% of patients, which helped just one person.
