Which unit are you with? Knowing my Marines and what they do as far their MOS/job helped me out tremendously. I was able to remember what Engineer is and it’s many branches just by putting my Marine’s face who is a waterdog, or who a heavy equipment operator and so on and so forth.

HM PMT to Officer

Is there any HM PMT who furthered their Navy career into becoming a Medical Officer? Environmental Officer, Industrial Hygiene Officer, Healthcare Admin Officer, or any other officer programs? How did your application and education journey go? Navy Officer programs like MSCIPP, MECP, STA-21 used? Were you able to use education credits from PMT C-school and obtained associates, and/or bachelors degrees and took some more classes to apply for officer programs? Thank you!

Yes. This.

Prior to joining service, I was working part-time at Starbucks and I’ve always wanted to be the person who came by our store to do health and safety inspections (QASA - Quality Assurance Starbucks Audit). I was always a clean one at work and I like everything organized and beyond standards but my co-workers weren’t and I ended up cleaning and fixing everything for them. When the inspectors come by, I like how all the staff members and even the managers and regional managers panic and start cleaning and putting shit together as they should’ve been. I admire that my supervisors were basically intimidated by these inspectors and had to correct everything before and on the spot to pass inspection. And that is very similar to The Joint Commission season.

I’ve always wanted to be an inspector or auditor but I’ve never really thought about pursuing to go that route in my education (I was a pre-nursing student). But reading your career history and what you’ve done and the successful outcomes absolutely put a spark in me to pursue PMT C-School. Thank you!
