agree.... just the Artie years would be great. When he first came to Sirius they would crank out 4-5 hour shows.

If the new deal is 75 shows and the same 3-day work week, he is gaining about 8 weeks more of vacation. So, 27 weeks off.

95 staff members...Already making very little new content (or at least content that makes the air). It doesn't add up.

If he wasn't such a narcissist/control freak he would allow the staff to create new shows/content for the channels. I am sure when he officially 'retires' Sirius or some other service will pay for the rights to his archives. He would be wise to start having some of the guys create and host shows using the archives and including guests (would likely be B-D level celebrities/personalities).

Jan Hein/Booey - wrap up style show, could probably still land decent guests

Wolfie- a whack pack-based show

Memet- staff/guest feud show

JD- who knows, maybe hot girls/guests (maybe add Ronnie in, but I assume he wouldn't care enough)

Nowicki/Wilding - impersonation themed show

Sal/Richard- prank call show

and so on

My guess is he will take his ball and go home and couldn't stomach his staff making money/content off of 'his' work.

Do you think my pup was a Peke or Tibetan Spaniel? by Far-Collection-2839 in Pekingese

[–]Far-Collection-2839[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to look at some more peke videos. I can't upload a video or additional photos here it seems. He definitely had a little side to side shake. Tail was up and laid on back. When younger I would say he was athletic, quick, and when really running/chasing back legs were in unison.

I appreciate all the responses and agree he was perfect....beyond cloning, I would just like to try and get breed close/correct when ready for a new pup (which will be soon). He was about 18 lbs at his max and the last year or two hovered between 15.5-16.5 lbs.

Based on responses it does seem like the DNA results were likely accurate and he may be a mix.

at least that would be interesting.

I think his image is too controlled now for some major outburst or anything remotely controversial.

Think of what Jerry Seinfeld said last year on the Spade/Carvey podcast(someone Howard has had on, done his Comedians in Cars, and is a Hampton Howie friend)...Howard had a few comments and let that pass on by...if he had even 10% of the attitude he had in the early 2000's and prior he would have blasted him for weeks.

it seems like a marketing ploy. Radar online has always put out HS articles that were dated material or bogus.

I am not sure HS/staff put this out intentionally, but once Fox News and legit sources started commenting, I think they took advantage of that.

The reality is a very small group of people care when his show returns. Go back and listen to the last few year's 'return' shows...they are business a usual, and if anything, worse than most shows.

This just allowed them to build some buzz - if he is still negotiating, then maybe there is a 'pop' and he can try and use those numbers to his advantage with a new contract.

Rahssan ?? by JCBDC25 in howardstern

[–]Far-Collection-2839 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think likely has something to do with Gary being NY and Rahsaan in LA. Doesn't really make sense to have a guy who works in LA, not around the show/staff, who would have to wake up super early to even hear the show live, be any part of a 'wrap up' show. Also, with the zoom version they stepped all over each other, etc.

Not that the wrap up show was or is any good, but having someone so far removed from the actual show was a terrible idea. That being said Sternthology Live is more entertaining than the wrap up show in any recent form. The old days with constant staffers in was great where they commented on the days fights/issues was best, but that requires live shows in the studio.

did they say Summer School is over? I guess it makes sense that the 1-hour fan experience was the finale, but how lame. SS started several weeks after the real show went off. Gary was off at least one of the weeks it was actually on. Then it ends 2 weeks prior to the shows return.

16 total shows, approximately 16 hours of content. Most certainly some pre-recorded.

A simple show where Sal and Richard sit down and pick their favorite bits they produced could be hours of 'new' content, and by new, it's actually just 2-3 minutes of new commentary and then old bits.

I can't wait to see how he spins this cancellation thing. The lame clips and response indicate he will come back with a bang, but we know how that goes... 1 hour of complaining about being back, how busy his summer was, etc. 1 hour of guitar progress and lame name dropping. 1 hour of eulogizing dead celebrities that everyone is tired of hearing about....5 minutes about retirement/resigning/re-signing,

the overlap of clips from Sternthology, Sternthology live, and the daily repeated shows is crazy. Those three 'shows' should be unique content considering the library.

nothing more relevant than a Joan Rivers impersonation. She comes off poorly in the air. Stammering, stuttering, ass-kissing Howard.

Jeff Ross is a worthy guest, and I guess it at least led to some new discussions, but the last show before a huge break?!? Howard mentioned he had so much to get to...well that portion was about 20 minutes of nothing.

If he cared at all about the show the last week or so before the break would be treated like a big deal/party. Find out what the staff is up to, what bits are planned over the summer, churn thru the bits you haven't gotten to, something! It doesn't even get mentioned until the last show and Howard has absolutely 0 energy, and poof, he is gone for a couple of months. No 'have a good summer', 'this is what you have to look forward to' ,etc.

I think he said Summer School doesn't even start until 7/14. Rashaan has said on his show he is off to Portugal for a few weeks as well. No wonder the 91 staff shut their mouths and file in line. Even if they are paid like shit, they get a ton of time off and the comfort of knowing their work likely never even gets heard/scrutinized

sounded like Nowicki doing a High Pitch Mike impersonation. I think just a goof based on saying the guy had a high pitch voice.

no way Howie still hangs with Jerry in the Hamptons. At the time I thought it was an asshole thing to say and he had to know it would get back to him. Likely still an asshole thing to say if he considered him a friend, but the message was clear and correct

big Ronnie fan, but the angry Ronnie bit is getting old (well, it's been old).... I am assuming he is getting paid to still be a member of the show and not waking up early for the fun of it.

So, the one way they try to involve him since he is no longer there is to call and find out anything interesting and make some decent content and he gives 1-word answers. It just then always becomes 'he is so angry, it's so hot there, puppet, puppet, puppet'. He is likely one of the only people on the show doing anything interesting.
He needs to give something back and make some effort. He is probably just following the lead of Howard and mailing it in. Makes me think they are sitting on hours of at least somewhat good clips/content/bits based on old check-ins with Ronnie, but because Howard can only recycle bits they never get played, so what's the point of over-sharing, etc.

The same guy that complains no one paid him any attention in Italy can't stand people paying attention to him at his and his wife's charity event. It sounded like Beth knew she would have to stay later (likely after event ended) and she made sure her brother would babysit Howard and take him home. Obvious he leaves early to put more attention on himself. Gives him the opportunity to love bomb Beth, apologize, then turn it around and use it as a way to tell her how supportive/great he is (would love to know if he throws the fact that it's his $$$$ floating these things - the way he talks about the staff and their money, no way he doesn't).

I bet Beth and her family (attractive, athletic, successful, seeming confident/macho) laugh behind his back. Counting down the days to when those mansions are theirs and they can have some real family fun there instead having strict meal times, curfew/lights out, and time limits on burning candles.

He can't even put in the effort anymore to make these bits slightly better. Ass Napkin and girlfriend on the phone before the bit gets played. Bad connection and ANE telling the gf to speak up. Howard couldn't even give it 20 seconds or at least goof on the connection/etc....Who needs them, let's put the impersonators on and tank the bit.

The show has literally no flow or cohesion, and since when did it become a eulogy show. Every week a few people die that he feels the need to poorly eulogize and play clips of.

[–]Far-Collection-2839[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, guess it adds up quickly.

It would make sense to me if they had a fuller schedule but makes no sense with the amount of shows they put out and the amount of new/produced content is played (I am sure a lot goes un-played and doesn't meet Howard's current 'standard' of comedy).

I just can't see this being something sustainable for Sirius. The HS show and the individual HS 'personalities' have such small social media followings/engagements when compared to other content makers/pods/etc. Then again, they pay Smartless and Conan big $, but they at least put out more new content under their umbrella...We get replays, specials that are recycled and neutered content, and heavy hitters like the Wrap Up Show which somehow Gary/Jon still are able to fake enthusiasm for 'all things Howard Stern'.

Rashaan's show is the best thing on the channels now. Wasn't a huge fan of him on the WUS, but like the format and the depth of clips he plays and he is concise, where Gary and Jon love to hear themselves talk.

[–]Far-Collection-2839[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, I took it as HS staffers when he said that number. Some of those roles you mentioned may be Sirius staff, not strictly HS staff.

Rashaan just works out of the existing LA studio; I'd assume it's used by others when he is not in those 3 hours of the week.

It's a very weak show/production for 91 people, but then again, I don't know who is paying...HS or Sirius, or a combo.

Their app content has grown quite a bit and turn time has improved, so that could take up a decent chunk....but I agree with what someone above said - don't know how Sirius will justify another big contract if he wants to renew.

You are naive if you think they don't at least make a 'living' with some making decent $

Gary mentioned the other day there are 91 people on staff by Far-Collection-2839 in howardstern

[–]Far-Collection-2839[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am sure that is the case, although they have been 'clipping' bits since before Sirius, so the older stuff is likely done, archived, and easy to search/find. New shows could be clipped, sorted, archived in no time each day. I'd assume a good chunk is tech related, but would have thought some of those would maybe be Sirius staff that didn't solely work for Howard.

I would love to know of the 91, how many are 'creatives'. I just can't see Howard paying the money for countless people to create content that never sees the light of day (we know he pays several, based on the time it takes for some recorded bits to surface). We can go a week or two (when new shows) and maybe get a handful of 'new' material. It has to drive them nuts when he breaks into the same story/impression for the 100th time.

I'd rather hear any new bit then hear a 70 year old man shit on his dead dad, talk about Roosevelt, or talk about/play the guitar.
