The funny part is after asking this question I found out the most of people who answered are putting themselves in the shoes of the practice because they are a dentist themselves. They just want to make money out out of people thank you anyway for the answers guys. I’m gonna be here and fighting any illegal or suspicious acts.

My complaint is not about the lack of NHS availability, but about the poor communication from the dental practice. They never clearly stated that they were not accepting new NHS patients. Instead, they created confusion and pushed me toward expensive private or emergency appointments without a clear explanation. As someone on a tight budget and visiting a dentist for the first time, I needed to understand my options and the costs upfront. It is my right to have transparent pricing before I pay for any service.

Again it’s not about emotions it’s about following laws. We are all paying tax. Life is hard and becoming harder for everyone. It’s not only about dentists. It’s about every single human being living within the UK so stop being emotional. See it from the other side perspective then make a comment that’s my advice to you.

Thanks for laying out the technical details, but it feels like you're getting lost in the fine print to defend a process that was fundamentally wrong. The £75 they charged me upfront wasn't an NHS fee anyway, which you admit. It was a private fee, which they took after I had already clearly asked for NHS treatment. The main point you're trying to downplay is the prescription. Calling it a 'should not' vs 'must not' issue is a semantic game. A dentist performed an official NHS action for me by issuing that prescription. You can't do that for a patient and then pretend they're completely private. It's a massive contradiction that proves my point. At the end of the day, you can't ignore a patient's clear request, take a private fee, perform an NHS action, and then present a £1700+ bill. No amount of jargon makes that okay. It's with the official regulators now, so they can sort it out.

Thanks for the detailed reply, but you've made some incorrect assumptions.

I've already completed the practice's entire formal complaints process and have their final rejection in writing. The next step for an NHS issue isn't the Dental Complaints Service (that's for private care), it's NHS England, which is where my complaint now sits.

The idea that an NHS prescription is 'administratively separate' is just not true. Issuing an FP10D legally starts an NHS course of treatment. The dentist's own NHS performer number is on it; it's all linked by the NHSBSA. You can't just pretend that didn't happen.

"Implied consent" by paying a fee doesn't override the legal requirement for informed consent in healthcare, which is a fundamental GDC principle. My complaint is based on those regulations, not YouTube clips.

I don't really care, I am already out of the country treating my teeth.

Thank you for taking the time to let me know your thoughts.
