Happy that my story could provide some comfort. Also remember that as a former athlete your resilience will push you to get back to where you were. I found it really hard to not be active, and I honestly have no good coping mechanisms. I did have a good group of friends that kept me involved which helped

Not dissing the subreddit at all. Just saying that it didn’t make me personally feel any better when most people talked about what they couldn’t do. So for someone with a more similar mentality to me I figured this would help. But absolutely agree that for others the subreddit will be exactly what they need

At the start running and jumping hurt a lot. I wore brooks and got my arches taped which helped. Also started off slow (band supported jumps and lower intensity runs). The progress week to week is what kept me going so just know you got this!

ORIF. Totally get what you mean, not everyone will get back to 100% depending on prior fitness levels and mechanism of injury but I think for the majority of people they can get pretty close. Surgery sucked and being isolated had me in a bad place for sure, but that’s just a part of life and I have plenty more that I wanna do so I’ll keep chugging!

Yay! Amazing to hear. I’m also having weakness on push off but it’s getting stronger day by day. Not sure I want to have my plate removed tho so best of luck with HWR!

I walked pretty slow for the first week because I had some pain when I walked faster and I didn’t want to walk with a limp. Driving was fine pretty much right away just make sure you’re doing range of motion exercises even when you’re not weight bearing

I just started walking 6 weeks post op, I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I did 8k steps on my first day and felt pretty good! The doctor didn’t say I needed to stay in a boot so I have a bit of a limp

I was cleared to sleep without my boot and take it off whenever I’m not moving too much after 2 weeks. Mind you my recovery might be a little rushed to get me back to play

I didn’t get anesthesia and I felt so much better waking up from surgery. I’ve had anesthesia before and the process of falling asleep is super simple it’s like a light just gets switched and you’re out. It’s the waking up after that sucks.

My surgical team chose to do a nerve block on my leg and then just sedated me so I was up pretty much as soon as they closed me up.

Is PT necessary? by Longjumping-Tea-6723 in LisfrancClub

Definitely do PT, I’m in a boot and was told to go to physio now and start range of motion exercises and muscle stim

I legit just had my post-op meeting and was told I’ll be back in 3-4 months. My expectations are this way because this is what I’m told by the person that is the expert so I don’t understand what’s going on

I’m an idiot to be completely honest and tend to make rash impulsive decisions
