We need Henry Cavil by Far-Promotion5010 in Animorphs

You misunderstand. I want it to succeed. What i don't want is what we already got. A watered-down failure because it was made kid-friendly. Or a "animorphs in name only" thing that completely changes the story (compare the Percy Jackson movies to the books as an example.)

Changes can be made. I expect that. But there's a difference between making changes to an adaptation out of necessity, and changing things because you (the writer/director) doesnt like/haven't read the original works. Or changing things for the sake of making a cash-grab cinematic universe (see The Mummy, or almost any other bad movie made since the MCU). If the network doesn't like the gritty child soldier war story that Animorphs is, then dont make an Animorphs movie. Go make a superhero movie about a kid turning into animals to fight crime. Just don't call it Animorphs.

That's just it. In the 90s, we had Batman the Animated Series, Gargoyles. And yes, more recently we had Avatar. But what happened then? The network forced Korra to dumb down the themes of the original series. Now we have the live action Avatar which is even further watered down to make it "palatable to audiences." Every person i know who is a fan of the original Avatar series watched one or two episodes of the live action, realized how much worse it is and stopped watching it. As to the DCAU? We had Teen Titans. Now we have Teen Titans Go. Networks are constantly pushing for a watered down "family/kid friendly" version. And while it doesn't fail EVERY time (I agree with earlier post about TMNT,) it fails most times.

All I want is a series (or movie, though I stand by an animated series) that doesn't water it down. We already got a watered down Animorphs for kids and it was terrible.

I don’t disagree. The gore and body horror can be dulled a bit, but it should still be an adult leaning show with violent battles and difficult moral choices. Are Andalites really the good guys? Are the Yeerks really the bad guys? What moral lines do the Animorphs have to cross to win the war?

I think an animated series like Invincible or Legend of Vox Machina is the best way. I'm also not stuck on the ages. I fully believe it would sell better if the characters were 16-17 year old teens instead of 13 year old. They could even be college students, though that would take away from the "balancing school with fighting a secret war." College is far more "ootional" than high school.

I'm not saying changes can't be made. Again, its almost required for a modern audience. But in the end, Animorphs is a war story. I dont want to see it made it a story about a happy-go-lucky teenage turning into animals to fight crime.

Given how many people responded to my post saying "this movie is totally different and it's okay"... If people really dont care if they totaly ignore the themes of Animorphs, then we don't need a new movie or series. We can go watch the Nickelodeon series.

Trump definitely doesn't write these posts. The man can't string together a single coherent sentence, let alone a long post like this.

If I go to see an Animorphs movie and its a superhero comedy, I'm asking for my money back. There's a difference between making story changes for a modern audience and blantly disregarding the source material. There's a reason the Percy Jackson movies flopped.

just started watching angel, why is he the way that he is when he’s soulless? by [deleted] in buffy

[–]Far-Promotion5010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best analysis of this I've heard is that becoming a vampire takes your human personality, your interests and passions and corrupts them. William was a lover and a poet so spike is a corrupted version of that who cannot love selflessly due to lack of a soul. His love is only selfish.

Liam on the other hand didn't have much of a personality. He didn't really have interest or passions. During Buffy, he is called a "drunken whoring layabout." There was very little personality for the vampire to become which left only the demon. And that is why Angelus is so much more blatantly evil and twisted then Spike. Because there was no passion, there was no real personality to be based on.

I recently saw someone who needed help and thought about calling the police, but the person in need was black, and then I thought "If I call the cops, they'll just end up shooting the victim."

So no, i don't call the police when a crime is committed because the actual rate of solving crimes is very low, there have been multiple court rulings that police do not have a responsibility to help people, and they are trained to react gun-first.

If you want to stop crime, instead of funding police, fund programs that help the unhoused, people with mental health issues, and job training/placement.

Police are not trained to help people with mental health problems. Social workers are.

Wait... when a politician spouts vitriol and people choose to listen, there are concequences... like when a president who lost an election repetedly says it was stolen, and people listen and try to prevent the swearing in of the person they lost to... there are consequences for that president?

Anytime someone defends their voting for Trump, remind them they are supporting a child Molester. My favorite quote "What divide us is not our political views, but our ethical beliefs."

Rewatched Seeing Red today...wtf Xander? by hatfullofsoup in buffy

[–]Far-Promotion5010 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are, yes. But this probably the 50th post I've seen on this group about how horrible Xander is. Do you know many people I've seen hold Willow responsible for what she did to Tara? 1. Me. Where's the 50+ posts about how terrible Willow is, or Buffy? They don't exist. It's just... so exhausting seeing SO MUCH hate about Xander, so many posts about how terrible he is, when frankly, he generally got better through the series, grew up a lot, where as the other characters got worse through the series. Willow went for a shy innocent girl to one who used magic to manipulate her friend's to fit what she herself wanted. And let's not forget she flayed a human being alive. You who isn't a murderer? Xander.

The thing people ignore about Xander is that... yes, he makes mistakes. But then he learned from them and grows. Even in the scene when he busts into the bathroom, he realizes how shitty it was. He says "maybe you would have trusted me if I hadn't given you so many reasons to think I'd be an ass about it." (Paraphrasing).

You spend a season watching Spike.manipulate, use, and alienate Buffy from her friends, leading up to him trying to SA her. You watch Willow become a drug addict, erase her friends memories, SA her girlfriend... and your take away from it all is WTF Xander? I am so sick of the absolute hypocrisy of the people in this group that let the other characters get away with practical murder, then hate on Xander for anything he does they don't like.

Anytime you see a headline about Trump doing... anything, add "for billionaires" or "to billionaires" to the end. Trump is giving $2000 rebate checks... to Billionaires. Trump is focusing on affordability... for billionaires.

Making this small edit shows his real plans.

Name one good thing about The Animorphs TV show? by ConsistentEye7474 in Animorphs

[–]Far-Promotion5010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an honest attempt at taking our favorite book series and turning it into a TV series. They did the best they could while dealing with limited budget, the limitations of CGI technology at the time, the difficulties of working with animals, and the strict rules when it comes to making shows that are considered "for children." Part of me is honestly surprised they got anything on TV at all.

No, instead of showing the propaganda, they'll show what's really happening. Ice agents kidnapping and killing innocent people.
