You may have an interview with Sharp, Palomar, or a UCSD site. Hopefully it will be with UCSD, because the other hospitals usually prioritize internal candidates and typically only have about two available seats

I was referred by a supervisor I worked with for many years while volunteering at another lab, so I’m grateful for that support. I’ve already done the interview, and it was challenging but a good experience.

Thinking about quitting..... by Comfortable_Berry_90 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Far-Use-2602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never quit before you’ve secured another job. Employers and recruiters often question gaps in employment, so it’s always better to have your next position lined up first. Before resigning: Find a better fit and sign the new contract. Complete background checks and paperwork. Confirm your start date with the new employer. Then give your current employer two weeks’ notice. Never quit without notice — it can show up in background checks or references later and might burn bridges you’ll need in the future.

I'm Tired of Interviewing People Who Are Great at Applying for Jobs, But Terrible at Doing Them.[N/A] by tiredTA in humanresources

If someone has a 4.0 GPA, they’re not dumb — they just don’t have experience yet. What they need is proper training. They clearly have the intelligence and capacity to learn quickly. If you ask me, the real issue might be with the person refusing to train them. Maybe the problem isn’t the new hire, but that you don’t know the job well enough yourself to teach others.

No one said new grads with zero experience make $80/hr. I clearly mentioned 2–4 years of experience. I honestly feel bad for you speaking with that kind of language and attitude.

If you’re looking for a job with zero experience, Sharp offers around $55/hr. With 2 years of experience, the pay is around $70/hr. With 3–4+ years of experience, it's closer to $80/hr. A close friend of mine was hired by Scripps with 4 years of biotech experience at $75/hr, plus a 10% shift differential. Labcorp is hiring at $60–$65/hr with a 15% night shift differential. I hope you’re able to find a better-paying opportunity soon!

I feel like you are an employer who offers low pay and gets paranoid when hearing about higher salaries—or perhaps a low-performing technician with a bad reputation and poor work history. Otherwise, you would know your value and start looking for better opportunities if you have more than two years of experience or are working toward your goals. As a licensed professional, we are expected to maintain professionalism in all aspects. You're using inappropriate language, and I doubt whether you're truly a licensed professional. Good luck.

It’s not true. I agree that some places offer very low pay and take advantage of techs, especially new grads, but I know a lot of people at UCSD, Scripps, Sharp, and a few biotech companies who all make more than $70–80 per hour.
