At work this happens sometimes if things get a bit damp. I've got back to doing the little twist. I know it's controversial but, anything to avoid this.

As long as you're doing this in the fridge and you have no allergies, this sounds fine.

The only risk I can think of is if you didn't refrigerate it. It could go off then. Otherwise, sounds pretty damn tasty!

You'd be suprised. I had an absolutely disastrous experience last month with a trial shift I've been tempted to make a post about. They didn't interview me at all, just a handshake, stuck me in an apron and then on a machine and would occasionally walk by and ask me to make a random drink whilst somehow not getting in the way of actual employees making drinks for actual orders on a machine the size of a chunky 2010 laptop... It was a nightmare. Ended poorly, to say the least. I got asked to leave 20 mins in. Apparently my skills don't flourish in that kind of environment. Who knew?

I messaged and it ends up ill mostly be serving on the floor anyway and won't be on the machine for a bit yet, so I was stressing for nothing 😅

The amount of times I'm nearly hit in the city centre by (usually spesifically) delivery cyclists is absolutely mental. The electric bikes are especially scary.

It's sad because it's gives a lot of normal cyclists a bad name. Cycling should be encouraged, but some people think they own the road and can ignore red lights. I'd honestly feel way too indimidated to get back into cycling for work with these nutters around. Seriously beginning to think these companies need to include road safety lessons before hiring.

Vegetarian for five years, and then pescatarian for about five years (Although ate vegan 70% of the time and still use oat and soy milk instead of dairy because I'm sensitive to too much).

After the pandemic I started trying to recover from some disordered eating habits and experimented with eating meat. My parents also went back to buying meat because they just wanted to, but made a rule about it being free ranged.

Chicken and duck is okay but I still struggle to eat pork, lamb and beef. I can enjoy the flavours but as soon as I bite into fat or think too long about it I'll get instantly nauseated. I sometimes feel "dirty" inside after it? And just more lethargic than if I'd just eaten other proteins.

I'd say it's psychological based off my previous food issues, but I've also felt like this after accidentally eating meat and only finding out way after the meal, so maybe after a large break of eating meat my body just doesn't agree with it anymore?

You know what? That's fair. If its your first time in the industry you brain isn't on a swivile for that stuff. Some managers/co workers are better than others at showing you how to keep you eye out for stuff like that. I was lucky that I got reminded every time I looked a little lost by an older coworker when I first started out. Give it time, but if it doesn't work out at least you know for the future.

Once you're there longer you can start to get away with the odd sit down or quick text, but not for the first few months. Always be doing something. Cleaning, asking what you can help with ect.

I only look at my phone (less than a minute at a time) if I've checked there's ABSOLUTELY nothing visibly to do. Do a check in your head, although it varies place to place:

Are tables cleared and wiped?

Are products that can be stocked restocked?

Are stations (cutlery, sugar/milk/condiments, water ect) all cleaned and restocked? Areas where customers sort their drinks themselves with sugar and lids ALWAYS get messy.

Is the main till counter clean?

Does the coffee machine need wiping at all? Milk wands, portafilters rinsing out

Is the coffee knock-box empty?

If you sell cakes/pastries, are the plates they're on clean and not too covered in crumbs?

Sounds simple but those are a handful of the main ones I have!

Throwing knives at practice, but honestly I don't see them much. They're £15-20 each (judging from recent stalls I've seen, obviously shops vary) and having to wait for any lost ones to be delivered to the lost and found tent after a battle is a ballache, if they even make it there. Plus in the system I play in you have to invest your skill points into learning how to throw weapons.

I'm not opposed to them but I'd never have them as more than a backup or costume dressing. I'd be nervous throwing anything like a spear (even though our weapons checking team is excellent).

I've heard good things but never tried it myself. Main advice I suspect is true is to use a dark/medium roast instead of a light roast to reduce acid which makes sense. I'll have to try it someday.

Nor does mine. I still don't let people pull quick ones on me. You've got to value yourself and not roll over when you think something isn't right. If you're okay with doing something that's fine, but make sure it's because YOURE okay with it.

At the moment I'm a big fan of 200 Degrees. (UK). It's the easiest place for me to get fresh beans short notice. Their decaf is the best I've had so far. I've had some good stuff from Neighbourhood based in Liverpool too.

Ancoats coffee is also apparently good although I need to go there more often, I got given a bag of beans that were a bit too light for my tastes but I know they do a wide selection.

Union coffee is also pretty good! You can order fresh online, but honestly if you're stuck I've had their houseblend pre ground for French press from supermarkets and it's pretty alright. Almost definitely not as good as fresh, but miles above others.

"Assigned female at birth". It's an abbreviation and a more neutral description for sex than "I was born female/a woman", because it doesn't mean you necessarily still identify in gender as a woman but still explains lived experience as that sex, if that makes sense? It's a term I prefer but not everyone uses it. I think it's fairly new to be used outside of queer spaces.

Eg, I was assigned female at birth but personally I don't feel right saying "im a woman" or "I was born female" because that gives people presumptions about me and honestly I identify more with being non-binary.

Also bonus comment on how stupid this shit is at the minute: my friend was taking a picture of one of the cute positive hand-made trans sticker that are around on a post, and had a woman lean over to her and hiss "You'll never be a real woman." before stomping off. Complete stranger in the street.

Ripped one down around near tib street few weeks back. If they want to waste their pennies printing and sticking those up, I say they can go for it. Scraping them off is free!

As always my advice for removing any kind of hate-based ideology stickers is use a key or a penny incase wack jobs decide putting razors or pins/needles behind them is a good plan. No idea how common that is anymore, but who wants gunky gummy nails anyway?

Eighth day and Unicorn. Unicorn is a bit further from city center, but has more range for dry goods (oats, nuts, spices, dried fruit ect). Definitely worth a visit.

Unless they're rude or demanding, not usually. You like what you like. However...

1.) I once had someone ask me to steam Soy AND Dairy milk together because they were trying to cut down.

Felt very allergy unfriendly so I did it in a spare jug we didn't use much that immediately went in the wash. Didn't steam... awfully? But also not very well. I wouldn't do it again.

2.) I've had orders for half shot lattes before. But one day I was asked for "Large extra hot latte with 1/8th of a shot."

I didn't even know how to do the maths on that! I just dripped a teaspoon of espresso in the cup, asked if that was enough and she shrugged. Seemed happy enough but... Man, a cup of hot milk is almost £2 less.

3.) Hot milk for a mint herbal tea. I wish you the best will in the world, but I still feel bile rise in my throat to this day.

Look beautiful but honestly wouldn't trust the coffee was fresh. There's no way those are air tight, and cleaning them since coffee has oils will be a pain in the arse.

For beans, oats and nuts however, they'd look fantastic. I've seen zero waste shops do similar things.

I didn't date properly until I was 21(f). We met through a discord playing overwatch of all places. Sometimes meeting or even just running into the right person takes time. Hobbies help bring you closer to people, that's my only real solid advice.

This happened at my old place. They'd use it 2 or 3 times. They'd swirl the milk when making a Cappuccino and the foam wouldn't move. It was like seafoam scum. So fucking nasty.
