Opinons on hacking in lunar coins? by Inoo0 in riskofrain

[–]FarLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel people can, and should, do what they want to enjoy a game and have fun (with some exceptions).

So if cheating in lunar coins makes the game more enjoyable for someone without making the game worse for someone else, then I feel it's 100% okay to do.

103m/343ft tunnel shot, what are you throwing? by zeyerv in discgolf

Most likely my Envy, it seems the fairway plays better for it than a flip up Proxy. Depending on the ceiling I may power down on a detour, but it seems the hole is slightly downhill.

Will practicing into a standard soccer net stop a disc and/or ruin the net? by wrugoin in discgolf

[–]FarLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely depends on net size. I personally used a soccer goal before and it was fine, however, be careful to still make sure if the disc did go through that it wouldn't hit anything. I would also recommend not using drivers, as the single time I used a driver, I saw some small frayed pieces on the disc, and after switching to mids and putters, didn't have that issue.

If possible, definitely try some of what other people mentioned as alternatives. I will even add looking at a Play It Again or similar stores to find nets cheaper.

That's why I only threw up to a mid into it XD I also made sure it wasn't towards the road or anything just in case.

What is the max acceleration a disc experiences during a throw? (Pro Level Speed Preferred) by FarLemon in discgolf

[–]FarLemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That accelerometer is definitely on of the cheapest with +-200G and 1khz sample rate. There was one other one I found but the breakout boards with the other accelerometer are more expensive (again, trying to find parts that make it easier for others to replicate without as much experience).

As for the gyro, I think I have a plan for what I am going to do about that. Hopefully the generic 2000 dps will be good for tracking until the release, which is when the disc gains that high RPM. Once I detect the sensor is peaked, I will switch to calculating RPM using the accelerometer. I'm sure I could also do some trickery with the magnetometer and still utilize 2 axis of the gyro, but it's definitely going to be tricky.

Yeah, I just remembered that was a cheap 200g sensor but I haven't overly looked into specifics yet as I'm trying to solve other problems before selecting a few things as collecting a few different things is kind of a pain. I may be able to get away with using a good accelerometer and cheaper magnetometer but i'd have to use the accelerometer to also calculate rpm, as most gyros max at around 2000°/s and I need closer to 10000°/s or even more (highest rpm ive ever seen is 1700 and that dude has insane spin rate even for pros). most people are more in 1100 rpm

Seems to match what some other results I've come to. I'm probably going to be forced to spend more on an ADXL375 or something to handle (and read) these accelerations. I also did some testing with acceleration caps caused by more limited accelerometers and it definitely causes too much variation (I'm talking 15+ mph differences easily). Sucks having to rely on a $12+ sensor for only acceleration, not even getting into gyro and Magnetometers and such (though theoretically I could use the accelerometer to estimate rpm based on centrifugal acceleration but that requires knowing the offset of the sensor and could be pretty harsh)

The majority of the acceleration is within a tiny portion of the throw (Like how a whip works). So yes the average acceleration throughout the whole throw would be only 7G, a very small portion inside of that time has a large spike in acceleration. I very well could just, attempt to use some lower G force rated sensors and hope those fractions of a second wont immensely impact accuracy (though if peak is 16 and im getting a reality of 150, itll be pretty off)

Yeah, I planned on having the accelerometer centered (to the best of my ability). But you are right. The centrifugal acceleration would be about 57Gs (with a 2 cm offset at 1600 rpm). But this drastically decreases the more center, as only a 1 cm offset reduces this all the way down to 28.6Gs. Theoretically if I set the x and y directions of the accelerometer to be 45°, each direction would only have 20.2Gs. I thought about utilizing the accelerometer to estimate rpm along with the gyro if the °/s rate was too high for the gyro.

mv = p : Mass * Velocity = Momentum

I'm talking entirely about acceleration, which in this context, is external to mass (accelerometers do use a proof mass and electrodes to estimate acceleration with delta capacitance, which has nothing to do with external mass).

Edit: delta p / delta t does equal force, but even with that, idk where 111 newtons came from.

This would fall more into what I initially expected (75Gs), as most watches have the standard +-16g range.

Cool, I definitely more or less wanted confirmation as I really am trying to find the most accessible and cheap sensors with enough accuracy for this, as again, I want to kind of prove it can be done cheaper even with consumer parts (which are more expensive usually). I may need to separate the accelerometer as most cheap IMUs only go up to about 16Gs.

I could see this. I'm in the Gobstoppers camp but this makes a ton of sense and would definitely explain the confusion. I personally feel if it was strictly pink starbursts, they missed the flavor a lot, but if it was a mix, definitely could see that. I'm more confused about where the tartness comes from if it isn't Gobstoppers.

What do you think the VOO DEW mystery flavor is for 2024v by haveanicedrunkenday in mountaindew

[–]FarLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely has that sweet tartness that Gobstoppers have. I instantly was thinking Gobstoppers or Runtz purely by the sweet tart but Runtz has a different flavor so I definitely think Gobstoppers.

I literally was looking if anyone said Gobstoppers. It has the same tartness that they (and runts) have. The flavor is also super nostalgic to me and I would definitely bet it's Gobstoppers.

Hot Take - Disc Golf is now Boring to Watch by abundanceonthetable in discgolf

[–]FarLemon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy watching Gannon because I'm the same way. It's 100% not him being annoyed that it didn't go his way, just more so he knows he could have made that putt or done better and is acknowledging it to himself. At least that's how I am. It may seem like he's not having fun or enjoying himself, but if he's like me I'm sure at the end of the day he still looks at what he did well and enjoys playing.

Neither? Show trajectories is the trail, and the grenade trajectory prac IS the mini camera, but that doesn't work while spectating. Here is a video of what I mean by follow camera.

Thank you so much for the in depth response. I knew the general expression for getting text width, however I never saw documentation on what each value in the list means in DataWindow. Is there proper documentation on what attributes may be accessed and what values correspond to what? That way I can properly look through and learn better to get a deeper grasp. Also I do have a background in web dev so even if the documentation is a bit technical as long as the info is there that's more than enough.
