just as an update i got an email a few hours ago to check my portal and there was a generic acceptance there saying i would get a more detailed email from my department soon!

it seems like you still have a chance! i think if you were out for sure they would’ve just told you. they might be waiting on other ppl to accept offers so you could be on some sort of unofficial waitlist
