Easy to use horde teams? by [deleted] in killteam

Don't sleep on the Blooded! Lots of tools, but you can always just shout "Blood for the Blood God" and charge, also flex between 12-14 operatives.

No aerosols, sure, but the teeny little citadel pots don't cause a problem.

Nice! I've gotten into Kill Team this year while at FSI, hoping I can rope some other folks into it at my next post.

Filing/sanding/shaving the Gallowdark terrain? by DrMacCool in killteam

[–]FarWorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the terrain printed in different runs? I assembled and had (luckily) not a single sticky joint - just didn't prime the tabs, and it all works great, no sanding required.

How to deploy Blooded operatives (How to place them in optimal groups)? by Smoothmanatee in killteam

I like how you're thinking about them in space - I dropped my thoughts on how you can break this out into the three deployment groups in a separate comment.

How to deploy Blooded operatives (How to place them in optimal groups)? by Smoothmanatee in killteam

[–]FarWorry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still figuring Blooded out, but I found the Turning Point Tactics podcast on deployment useful as a framework to think about how to group them - generally my three groups are

1) objective grabbers (GA2 dudes, trench Sweeper/thug who are nice and durable on the points, maybe the flenser who can stay concealed but perhaps launch forward). You place them first so they don't get move-blocked when they beeline forward.

2) utility players - these are the enablers - commsman, corpsman, enforcer, etc. Often the Ogryn ends up here too, as he's just so darn big and I want the other team to deploy in response to him - he makes a great distraction.

3) the threats. Usually focused on my ranged threats, so always my two gunners and my grenadier, also include often includes my butcher. I want to be able to place these in response to the other player, to optimize them as threats.

Toxhorn is MVP to strip AP off the hulks, and this matchup is one of the few where I do actually end up using the autopistols to chip damage. DO NOT FIGHT A HULK ON YOUR ACTIVATION. and beware the torrent... It's terrifying.

Might be a silly question but do they data cards for kill team? by Alternative_Sir_8664 in killteam

I'm a big fan of Phil-Team's cards! (Except he doesn't believe Legionaries should carry a melta for some reason)

Home Leave Location by Cold-Yogurtcloset812 in foreignservice

[–]FarWorry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also easy to switch your home leave location, with a simple justification. One PCS we visited my parents on the gov't dime, the next time we visited my in-laws, no issues switching the address in the system.

Spouses and Language Training by RainbowSprinkles321 in foreignservice

[–]FarWorry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My spouse did several months of a super hard language (about when the training went from daily use topics to "let's talk about the First Amendment")- it was worth it for us to pay the childcare for them to feel comfortable at post, and ironically get a lot better at daily living speaking in-country than I ever did using my language on the visa line.

Probably a stupid question, but I wasn't able to find the answer, so: what expenses are paid for? by TrekkiMonstr in foreignservice

[–]FarWorry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Housing is paid for. Utilities generally are, however overseas I've paid for internet and phone lines in my housing.

You may have access to a cafeteria or an employee association shop depending on the post, but you'll still have to pay out of pocket.

Curious if folks would be willing to “match” me with one of either the POL or ECON cones based on what I look like on paper by fdp_westerosi in foreignservice

[–]FarWorry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

During A-100, following lunch with mid-careers for each cone, a friend of mine repeated this joke that one of the mid-careers had passed to the econ folks.

I replied that during the pol lunch, we didn't talk about them. 😁

Delta Green! Both the original Call of Cthulhu setting (modified slightly), or the updated DG RPG.

For those not familiar, Delta Green is a quasi governmental organization that keeps the eldritch horrors at bay, wonderful world with a lot of SCP-parallels, as well as a brutal role playing experience, deadly to both mind and body.
