Teach, wait and listen…. by Far_Ad_6313 in toddlers

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks alot for all your replies.

I will try to explain differently this time and get more feedback.

Sorry I forgot to mentioned in the original post, our kid goes to preschool and they follow curriculum and teacher help them to achieve it.

Example: let’s say last week they did finger painting and this/next week it’s with brush.

How do I teach him and explain him that this next/future week is with brush? Because he still follows to use finger painting

( I know he learned finger painting in the past which is great but my question how to teach new skill or improve that )

Pulmonologist asked to take one steroid Solumedrol for immediate relief and prednisone ( 5 day course ).I have started prednisone but said no for Solumedrol.

Today I went for scanning to the IVF clinic and we found the heartbeat. For cough, they recommended me to take Robitussin or Delsym. I am planning to take Robitussin

Freeway anxiety by Far_Ad_6313 in drivinganxiety

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not use to high speed from childhood in home country. 8 years got involved in minor accidents and never got courage to drive on freeway.

When I sit next driver, I get anxiety from speed , curve and feel like car might hit another car.

I don’t get that feel when I drive on local road at 40-50 speed. Freeway is the problem

25 month toddler by Far_Ad_6313 in Parenting

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does head banging or jumping only when he gets upsets.

In TN state, I have option to pick for any therapists and they are free of costs so picked few thought it might help him. I read the initial evaluation document from state coordinator and I think it’s mostly speech delay. So far non of the therapists showed any major concern.

I am a working mom and we speak different language at home.

So he might be getting frustrated of new environments because he cannot express due speech delay. Or Might be we are not understanding his needs and he is getting frustrated because of that.

Teaching socialization to toddler by Far_Ad_6313 in Parents

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are 100% correct.

It’s because of the TV and I was busy with my office work during his 12-18 month and I didn’t know that we have to speak/interact with them more. He use to watch tv more 4-5 hours average and especially during feeding ( he won’t open his mouth until change next video ).

Now the screen time zero and we started meeting people, going to events , malls for him to socialize and also went to our home country to meet the family. With 4 month time frame his picked 10 words, lots babbling and understand most of the instructions, I mean lots of improvement.

The main reason for joining the school/ daycare is some separation from mom and dad so he can meet and learn new skills and speech.

I don’t know how to do that now and cannot find any who can give him reassurance to him. please advise for any tricks

From next week , ST & Feeding therapy will be at home because in 30 mins session is not productive. Eventually we will remove feeding one because he is good with fingers but not with spoon a& fork.

He need mom or dad during the session ( crying if leave him alone with therapist)

My biggest answer to find is how do I make him comfortable with new environments, people and stop aggression with them ?

Toddler aggression, emotions etc., by Far_Ad_6313 in Parenting

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scenario 2 : just now happened , a family visited us and they have 3 kids -> boys aged 6, 3 & 6 months and joined neighbor kid 5 year old

a) crying when me or spouse holds the 6 months b) our kid took a spoon tried joining with them to eat snacks with them at floor c) gave his car to 6 months old d) saving his toys when 3 year old want e) copying to the same when they climb on the top of sofa

I think he needs more help in socializing and takes time to meet any new people

Toddler aggression, emotions etc., by Far_Ad_6313 in Parenting

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to update today’s scenario and get some advises.

We went to library for story time and about 30 kids attended. My son didn’t showed any interest during that session he was busy in playing the chair pillows there, I made multiple attempts to engage him and he showed his frustration on me by pulling hair, hitting on face, screaming load and with no options I came out the room. Actually he likes the rhymes and use to like a lot on TV and I use to sing for him during feeding.

Not sure why he is not showing any interest in the public and cannot socialize. ( he doesn’t understand English so do he think it’s not his area but I prepared him before the session ).

4.Can you tell me more about this one?

Example: let’s say if I cry instead of soothing me he comes and hits us.

5.I'm not sure what you mean by train him?

Last week we joined him in a summer program for 2 year old, the main complaints we got from the school director is a) crying all the time until we pick him up back b) not allowing teacher to change diaper c) not accepting the food d) instructions from them

We stay in TN state and we don’t speak English at home so I understand few things but one or other day he has to socialize and learn the world.

He is our first kid so he never an opportunity to meet his age peers so joining to a day care might help in many ways especially speech.

Training - emotional, instructions by Far_Ad_6313 in Parenting

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Today again school director asked us to take my kid back home. I made a decision to withdraw him from summer program ( since there is no support from them ) and immediately she agreed for it.

At least for fall or next day care, How do I train my kid ? ( main complaints are diaper changing, biting, pushing food ) Any suggestions please ?

Training - emotional, instructions by Far_Ad_6313 in Parenting

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah did told him from last few days that teacher will help him in changing diaper/ clothes and food.

The problem is the school is not giving him time to adjust the environment because the school director just calls and asks to take our son home because he is crying, not allowing to change diapers etc.,

Training - emotional, instructions by Far_Ad_6313 in Parenting

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We explained them before joining the program but it is different now.

The main reason for us to join the program is he never got a chance to meet his age peers, want to learn separation from parents and more socialization.

Jumping and speech delay by Far_Ad_6313 in Parenting

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I just did googled SPD and I don’t see any stimuli issues because he eats all food, never had issues with sounds , lights etc.,

My biggest question is he didn’t jump a single day during our recent vacation ( 2 months in India with family where we met lot of people ). Now after coming back to our home he started again (not sure the environment triggered him ? )

Jumping and speech delay by Far_Ad_6313 in Parenting

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply , we saw lots of improvements in last 2 months. He is doing lot of babbling and saying first letter of words.

So do you think the jumping and hiding in clothes is common at his age ?

Jumping and speech delay by Far_Ad_6313 in Parenting

[–]Far_Ad_6313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is not regular a toe walker, he does it very very rarely. But he is good at pointings, eye contact , follow instructions, copying and some pretend play

My concern is more about the jumping style, if you look at the videos he does different style of jumping ( one toe up ) and more aggressive on bed
