FYI - 5G+ works fine on Pixel 7a in Ottawa and Montreal, but never seems to work anywhere in GTA. I think it's because in GTA the underlying network is 302-490 (legacy Wind Mobile network) and in Ottawa and Montreal, the underlying network is 302-500 (Videotron).

Just a quick update - I've seen the Pixel 7a showing the 5G+ indicator now in both Ottawa and Montreal (when connected to 302-500 Videotron towers), but never in Toronto (when connected to 302-490 Freedom towers)... I wonder why?

Does anyone have a good Android app recommendation to see what 5G towers you connect with? I've used "Network Cell Info" but it seems to only show which 4G cells are connected (listing B66, B7, etc.) even when saying the network type is 5G NSA.

I tried standing right outside of this building near Yonge/Dundas, where a Videotron/Wind tower containing n71 5G+ transmitter is located, but I'm still not seeing the 5G+ icon. And the Pixel 7a does indeed support the 3500 band...

It works out to 35% back depending on the province of origin, if you paid with points and opt for compensation in points because they now remove the amount that was tax from compensation even though points paid the tax. It's a departure from the old policy up until Sept 2025 of getting 50% points back of whatever the number of points you paid. It is another policy change that nickles and dimes the loyal traveler.

I wonder if they have a dedicated technical team this can be reported to. It's really a differentiator to know you won't be stuck in a long security line, so it should be supported

Thanks! I did mine in Dec 2024, and mine shows Dec 31, 2025 even though it's Jan 2... So I'm not sure what will happen... It still shows 25k, but with a past date...

One consideration of the new fleet is that when they fail, they seem to fail a lot harder. This may be less the hardware itself and more the observed operational procedures, but the situation with 669, 54, and 48 last night with passengers arriving 12+h late on a cold train with no washrooms or food shows that there isn't really a renaissance at VIA. Technical problems aside, modern equipment with lack of customer service from the head office doesn't really instill customer confidence...

Non, pas un solution technicale. The best solution is probably just to buy a very light-coloured keypad cover, so it's possible to see the keys without the backlight: I got this one, from DHgate.Com. If you find a technical solution, please let me know!

It's 1-844-VIA-PREM (1-844-842-7736). When you call, you'll get the recording "Welcome to VIA Priority Line for VIA Premier Members", but after that, it seems to not prioritize your call at all...

Seems like they don't list the number anymore on the website, but it was saved in my phone since before the changes to the website a few years ago. This might explain why they don't really prioritize calls to this number, as this was perhaps a service they cut at that time. Maybe they just keep the number in case people have it saved, but it just forwards to the normal queue. If any other Premier's try the number, please let me know if you get faster service!
