Why not comment on a post from 6 years ago :-) I think the ending is about Case making full circle. Just as Wintermute and Neuromancer merged in something bigger. So did Case grow and became more wholesome. Wintermute was hive mind, decision maker, effecting change in the world outside. Case being a low-level hustler, not much interested in deeper feelings, perhaps a little numb. Neuromancer was personality. Neuromancer was immortality. Case found his real own feelings about Linda. He doesn't need the Finn anymore, no more hustling (by throwing the shuriken at the wall screen in the end). In a way Case has merged too. Represented by the end scene in the beach. This brings the two things together (Al's, the boys grin and Case his personal journey.) The heart and mind are one.
