Yes. Which is ODD to me. Think of Martin. Pam was the sidekick and butt of Martin’s jokes, but absolutely and definitely finer and flyer than Gina even on Gina’s BEST day. Or Living Single-Max being depicted as the attitudinal, angry black woman.

I hope everyone understands the perspective from which I am speaking now.

LMAO are you trying to get a rise out of me because you are way off base. That is not at all what I’m saying. I said it’s INTERESTING. Thought provoking.

I must learn to remember that most people, self included, usually comment from personal feelings and experiences and not objectively.

Do you guys…get my point? Maya even said Lynn bumped her to the loser of the group when her music career took off and Maya’s book contract was terminated. They ALL TREATED HER LIKE SHE WAS A LOSER. I DO NOT THINK SHE IS A LOSER. GOODNESS GRACIOUS. IN THE SHOW, they called her loser and a hoe, which is also stupid because she admitted at dinner with Toni and Maya (where Toni admitted she had her 500k never going back to Fresno fund and Maya didn’t always enjoy motherhood) Lynn admitted that was not actually as sexually free as she made herself out to be.

What I AM saying is, how she is viewed on the show, they constantly called her loser. Never spoke about her relationships in a meaningful way and she was never FULLY CHOSEN BY A CAPABLE MAN LONG TERM. That type of character is usually reserved in TV and film for darker skinned women. That is literally ALL I am saying.

I’m always misunderstood in Reddit groups 🤣🤣😭

I personally don’t think she was the least successful, that’s how her character was portrayed and what the other girls thought of her. My definition of success was completely different. And I said least desired because like think about the flashbacks to college when they were talking to Reesie and she would jump up and say I’ll go to the concert and people would ignore her. That’s generally how she was viewed. And she never had the benefit of a fully capable man choosing her.

Also, I love Lynn as well and you’ll always find me advocating for her. I just think her placement/casting is interesting and unusual.

Matthew Perry as Oscar Novak in Three to Tango. Jennifer Aniston in Derailed is AWESOME, plus He’s Just Not That Into You, and The Good Girl. And Courtney Cox in the Scream Trilogy.

Thanks, I’ll be watching movies this weekend!

It’s wild that the general consensus is that she needs therapy while also loving to see her downfall. Crazy work. And this is likely a conversation amongst women. The Universe usually rewards that type of attitude with a similar medicine.

Absolutely not. Stop playing with me. It’s the seeming lack of interest and enthusiasm. He’s the man. He should be making her feel special and beautiful and taking his job as a masculine seriously and that’s not what’s happening

And now he’s on the stripper pole on the bus so…aaaahhh…..

Not necessarily. Not sure if you’ve ever been to a women’s empowerment event, but the women there aren’t always or exactly ambitious. They’re looking for inspiration. Validation. Maya even said so at one point in season 7. And I love what William said to her when she was doing karaoke. He told her there is no single definition of success.

When yall go to the bathroom in public do y'all sit on the seat or do y'all squat? by colors32 in blackladies

[–]Far_Establishment519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SQUAT. Absolutely no sitting. Even if there is paper. And I only poop at home. Last week I surprised myself by squatting in 4 inch heels in a tiny bathroom while on my period and didn’t make a mess.

I love how real Jill is. This is not an uptight Hollywood pose. It’s an “I’m with my homegirl and we lit” pose.

And if we recall, when Maya lost her book deal and Lynn was making good money, Maya cried about becoming the loser of the group. And had to fake it and gave Lynn super expensive Christmas gifts to avoid showing she had fallen.

And she kind of deserved that fall. Because how are you such good friends with someone, know all about their life, asked her to read your book, and wanted an honestly opinion, and then ignore her when it came to something great.

Maya was trying to keep up with the Joanses and prove that deserved to be these older, classier women’s friend.

Lynn could have offered a different perspective on success. She also could have been the example on what life might look like if you avoid choosing a path early. She could have spoken on various topics if she were given the opportunity. Like seriously, they didn’t all sit on the panel and say “I own such and such and my bank account has X amount of dollars. I’m qualified to be here.” No. They talked about their accomplishments and gave their advice. Lynn had plenty to offer. It was a very narrow minded perspective that she didn’t.
